Does Allan Green have any chance at all in the Super 6?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Crax Sellerman, May 20, 2010.

  1. Regardless of the fact he'll be at a point disadvantage - is he good enough to beat anybody in the tournament? I've yet to see the guy fight so I'm just curious.

P.S. thank you to whomever restored my thread creation privileges <3

He was outboxed at times by Edison Miranda, and was completely unable to assert himself on a shot, blown-up, and outsized Simms.

No, he won't even be competitive with any of the Super Five.

People who think he even has a puncher's chance need to get a grip and realize that Carlos De Leon, Jerson Ravelo, and Jaidon Codrington are not exactly an iron-chinned rogue's gallery.

he has no chance and got a terrible draw by fighting ward the first match. i think green can beat kessler and froch but that's about it. he's fighting the "future of boxing" and the pride of oakland.

    you never know

I and many others considered Andre Ward as the least likely one in the tourny to win it all. Now he's a heavy favorite.

i knew ward was going to do his thing before he even fought kessler. ward was a 6 to 1 favorite to win this. i think i might made a nice little investment. he's looking real good in camp. green is in for a long night.

well he is your home town boy so it makes sense for you to bet on him.

But on paper though Ward had the least amount of power, speed, and experience out of the 6 when this thing got made. Its hard to believe hes going all the way at the time.

A totally healthy Alan Green can beat anyone in his weight class. Unfortunately, Alan is not and has been totally healthy for sometime. He has little chance in the tourney. Too long a lay off and health issues will prevent it. He would have out boxed and stopped Miranda had he been healthy. One does not lose one third of ones colon and not suffer for it.

ok i'm little bias. i mean even train at king's gym and have seen him many times. to me his pedigree is on a whole different level being a gold medalist, so i didn't view him with least amount of power, speed, and experience.

It sounds like you, just like myself, have seen Ward do things in King's Gym that the rest of the world are yet to see. Watching what he did in some of his sparring leading up to the Kessler fight...I knew Kessler was a walking dead man. Once I heard what Ward's sparring partners were doing to Kessler when he landed up in Sacramento, I knew it was over before it began.

Brandon Gonzales (watch out for this kid, you're hearing it here first) and Nick Diaz, at least.

slowly the rest of the boxing world will know what you and i knew from the begining. trust me, in less than one year ward will be on that p4p list.

I think he can beat kessler but not Ward. I wanna see Ward Abraham tho. And see dirrell whoop froch again. I like Ward and I like dirrell a lot but Ward will beat dirrell.

Do you happen to know who he's sparring in preparation for Green? A good friend of mine has sparred with Ward regularly for years (Ward's always been a bully in the ring), but I'm not so sure about lately.

not sure who he's sparring with. haven't seen him sparring. saw him in the ring w/virgil doing a few things and he looked very sharp. what do you think of virgil hunter?
