There are many reasons to consider in Makeing Cotto the #2 P4P if he is impressive vs Margo. Not least of all is the fact Joe Calzaghe the consensus #2 man is not participating in the most competitive fights available, also he is retireing afterward all this while Cotto flourishes fighting dangerous opposition and top quality opponents. His future promising and full of excitement for the sport of boxing.

Consider that with PBF gone we can now enjoy a #1 in Paquiao who brings nothing but excitement to the sport. Who fights quality oppostion. I say lets start a new era were fighters arent always talking greed money and ducking fights. Out with the old in with the new. We can continue the process by makeing Cotto #2 Provided he is impressive vs Margo

I would like to read others opinions on this subject?

I wouldnt have a problem with it. however, he would most likely be at #3 or #4

If he beats Marg, Cotto's resume warrants a bump to the 2nd spot over calzaghe, IMO. Better competition and more dominant in a VERY stacked division.

I definitely agree since the last fight I saw of Calzaghe was really an unimpressive win over Hopkins. Even more, Joe got knocked on his butt by B-Hop. Grant it, Hopkins did nothing as well but I expected Joe to show he was P4P by KO-ing Hopkins. Anyways, if Cotto dominates Margarito, then yes he would be number 2 in my book.

My question is: if Cotto loses or is dominated by Margarito, where does that put him on the P4P list? Where does that put Margarito on the P4P list as well?

Cotto is a beast no doubt about it, if he wins against Margarito in a dominant fashion way I still wouldn't put him on the 1 or 2 spot. That's just me of course

cotto's best win is mosely who wasn't top 10 p4p, whereas even though hopkins was old he was top 5 p4p. his next best win is judah who was coming off of 2 straight losses. and you say more dominant, did you see the lacey fight, that's the definition of dominance. and the kessler win was excellent too.

as good as cotto is i wouldn't have him higher than calzaghe

In order for Cotto to be a #2 he needs to do an impresive fight against Margo (KO which I doubt) and if he wants to be #! P4P he needs to KO ODLH if they fight in December AND make another impressive fight against Paul Williams.

With those 3 wins in a impresive fashion I'll put him #1

I don't like Calzaghe, but I can't put Cotto ahead of him on the strength of a win over Margarito

IMHO a "brutal" KO of Margarito would most likely put him either 1 or 2 on the P4P list.

    Thats just me though!

If he had dominated Mosley and then went on to dominate Margarito, certainly. But he barely got by Mosley (many thought it was a draw). He's a solid top-10 pfp, but that's about it for now. IMHO.

Well I thought Cotto was more persistent and Mosley was a tad slow in the fight they had last November. I believed that the UD was warranted whether or not you are a fan of either fighter. Cotto did more to win than did Mosley.
