Another of my posts from the same thread:

"If Cotto dismisses Margarito in decisive fashion - say a middle round KO - then I think he jumps in the current rankings. Maybe Calzaghe maintains his position at #2 until the RJJ fight. If he doesn't KO RJJ and wins by a boring decision, while Cotto fights another top ten welterweight and dominates him, Cotto should jump above Calzaghe."

i agree aswell...... and honestly, when he beats margarito (notice i said when)....i dont think he'll get any higher then number 2, because i cant see him movin up to 154.....and who else is there to beat? berto?, williams?.....do those 2 fighters warrant as big enough names to go to #1.....berto hasnt fought an elite, and neither has williams......he's my 2nd favorite fighter but, i dont know if he'll ever be recongnized as #1 pound for pound, unfortunatly enough

Not with the PAC man still around. IMO Pacquiao had an argument for #1 before PBF retired and with the win at lightweight over Diaz, there is no argument.

yeah thats what i'm sayin, i dont see cotto being number 1 until pacquiao retires......well unless for whatever unthinkable reason pac decides to fight cotto....which would of course end his career

Damn, the Mexican mop is out in force these days. Suddenly everyone in the latino divisions are p4p... :/

Calm down amigos latinos. Calmense latinos.

Calzaghe and Pac currently have run away from the pack and no Cotto will NOT be no. 2 if he wins next. We can debate anywhere from 3 to 8 for Cotto.

 These kinds of topics have been done to death haven't they? I wish these thread starters would do a search or something before starting repetitive threads like these. Let's just wait and see what happens before we start jumping people up the p4p rankings shall we?

Calzaghe has rendered himself irrelevant as of taking the Jones fight. He will retire aftreward. Im going foward and putting Cotto at #2 if he crushes Margo. I will go even further if Marquez beats Casa I will put him at 2 provided Cotto losses, either way Calzaghe is out. unless he fights and beats Pavlik which will not be happening any time soon.

I am ready to put him there, given that his last several outings have been against above-decent comp. and he had shown consistently good performance.
