Im not a Wlad fan by any means but whether you knock your opponents out or not should have little to no bearing on your p4p status, as long as you're winning in dominant fashion. Should Floyd be considered lesser p4p because he hasn't knocked anyone out since 2007?
By the time he fought froch he was already considered the man to beat. lets look at Froch in ring: 1) lost a very close fight to Kessler (that was clearly for kess), which he did avenge. 2) should have lost to dirrel (once again close but the wrong guy got the nod 3) was losing badly to JT until Taylor gassed and Froch caught up. Going into the fight NOBODY considered Carl a P4P fighter but most thought Dawson was lower tier top ten. Dawson can say what he wants, if he needed money their was several different directions he could have went. I do not buy a grown man being told something that is bad for him and he turns around and does it. At the end of the day Dawson was the lineal and recognized champ at 175 and Froch was a fighter who was luck to get to finals of the S6. excitement and fanbase wise Froch, is on another level of both guys.
floyds calibre of opponents are way higher. thats not wlads fault, the era sucks. and its easier for a heavyweight to achieve a knockout.
I do. Money makes you do stupid ****, and Dawson was out of options. Hopkins III? Come on. And Dawson is on the dumb side of the spectrum.
He's prob better than Bradley but Bradley has the better recent wins by far so gotta give Timmy the plaudits. The man has gloves. Will travel.
A similar list myself but i don't have JMM that high and Ruslan isn't on my list, I have JMM at 10, Roman Gonzalez at 9 and Lara at 8.
Completely agree, his career since Froch has been really disappointing His problem is he feels he should earn the lions share from any fight he takes, yet in actuality he's not PPV material, doesn't sell loads of tickets and doesn't draw much interest internationally. If he didn't have a belt,, no-one would be interested in fighting him. He needs to move up to LHW and get in the mix there, cause that's where the big fights are
I would of said 'yes' without a doubt but the winner of Bradley v Pac will take a well earned #2 spot. Ward isn't active enough and he doesn't even have an opponent lined up which is just flat out ridiculous. Ward is one of the best in the sport but he has to drop down by virtue of doing nothing.
LOL, and who would you replace him with? Rigo hasn't fought that level of opposition yet and the Klitschos do not possess that level of skill. GGG? Don't even make me laugh. The only person I could REMOTELY see taking the #2 spot would be Bernard Hopkins after winning in his next fight or two. But, really I'd be forcing that. Ward is still number 2 p4p, and in the need future, I don't see anyone replacing him.
And what the f uck is he doing to sustain his spot at #2? Calling fights at ringside next to Lampley. atsch Theres not even the remotest bit of speculation as to who he may fight next.
1- What? Did you have Froch ranked higher than Donaire? How? 2- Who in this thread mentioned Golovkin? Nobody else but you did.
