Pep was all class, a boxing virtuoso, complete master.

Dont forget, if Saddler & Pep fought today, Pep would be a FWT & Saddler would likely be at least a SFWT & Pep still beat him when he was a bit past it & Sandy was prime.... this MUST count in Pep`s favour, absolutely must.

Saddler also lost to mediocre competition a lot more often than Pep, even a past prime Pep. Also, outside of younger, inexperienced versions of Joe Brown and Jimmy Carter, Saddler fought far lesser opposition throughout the first portion of his career than Pep.

Pep sustained an injury in one of the fights with about 6 rounds to go, he had little choice in that one. Otherwise, you're spot on, I don't condone that **** from Pep either.

Still, the fact remains that Saddler was more than likely just an awful matchup for Pep. In their last fight, which Pep was winning and quit in, Saddler would lose 4 of his 5 fights around that period, the only win coming against Pep. That really tells me it's more of a case of styles making matchups, as Pep never lost nearly as often to second rate opposition (or any opposition) and matched up better against a larger variety of styles.

He was heavily favored to beat him because Saddler hadn't really made a splash by that time. Pep was still an excellent fighter, no doubt, but as I just explained, styles make fights. I think that phrase holds truer for this rivalry than any other.

Guzman is one of the biggest disgraces in boxing.

Who the hell weighs over the limit in the biggest fight of their life in a weight class above their previous one? That's just laughable and sad. He's a choke artist and will never amount to anything significant in the long run, as talented as he is.

I think most agree, Pep was king at FWT.

On the Guzman thing, he really is a waste of space & talent, a ***** of a guy.
