Does anybody accept Terrible Terry's 'victory' over Joe Gans...

    ...considering the fact many believed it to be a dive, referee George Siler thought Gans wasn't trying, and the film shows Joe wilting under (mostly) grazing blows?

    When Terry McGovern fought the LW Joe Gans, he was so feared as a cyclonic puncher
    much like the young Mike Tyson of later times...But what I see on the film of the fight
    is one of two things. That Joe Gans had an off night or, most likely Gans was "cuffed"
    like an Ike Williams was in Ike's career...I think that the fight was a fix...
    From what I have read, young Terry McGovern was a dynamic puncher who was considered
    unbeatable until he met his Waterloo, at the hands of Young Corbett, who just had his number...

    No. When a boxing master goes down from punches that dont land its a pretty dead giveaway. Gans was a great fighter but a horrible actor.

    There is a lot of circumstantial evidence pointing to it being a dive.

    That is as strongly as you can put it.
