People seem to forget the look on Hatton and Cotto's face while they were sitting ringside watching Floyd beat Gatti's ass from ring post to ring post.

People also seem to forget that Floyd called every single top guy at 140 and even specifically mentioned Cotto's name as someone he wanted to fight.

And what was Hatton and Cotto's answer when asked about a possible matchup with Floyd. "I'm not ready." No shame in that. But if the moment is available and you don't seize it, you can't be surprised if it never comes around again.

that is true, I have a thread talking about that. In it was a 20 minute long interview of Roach after the Oscar fight and talking about why he took the fight and potential fights in the future and if he didn't like the fight or thought it was dangerous, then he'd ask for a catchweight

Hatton was a huge lww, had to basically starve and dehydrate himself to make 140.
It wasnt like Floyd was fighting a much smaller guy

Hatton would have won that fight if the ref knew how to do his job properly. That little check hook from Floid didn't even do any damage. It was Hatton banging his skull against the post that did the damage. Hatton was the better fighter that night and was unlucky not to win.

I'm not complaining, idiot. I'm asking if it's brought up. Obviously, it is.

anyone watching boxing then would know it was the only way the fight was feasible.

truth be told the huge majority of boxers move up as champions. moving down is exceptionally rare.

The real question is HOW MANY PEOPLE FORGET TO MENTION WHEN DE LA HOYA MADE MAYWEATHER MOVE UP TO FIGHT HIM?

Listen if you want a champion's title, money, fanbase & starpower/glory YOU HAVE to go GET IT.
(i.e. Duran vs Leonard, Jones jr vs Ruiz, Barrera vs Hamed, De la Hoya vs Mayweather)

Fighting at 147 means Ricky can eat 7 more doner kebabs and drink 14 pints more pints of Guinness a week before he starts training. I'm sure he didn't complain.

you realise that Oscar, Cotto, and Margarito all made Pacquiao move up.

They made Pacquiao move up, and Pacquiao made them move down. That's what catchweights are about.

I think people look at Hatton's record and just point out that Hatton has always been better at 140 than 147

you can call that complaining or you can call it pointing out the obvious.
