Pulev is awful. Sat on his mando, taken step aside money for years. Can’t wait till he’s gone

Once upon a time Pulev was decent. But Wlad castrated him and he's never been the same since.

good jab. Probably got more kos via jab than his right. Stiff as a mummy. Been on a bum tour since wlads left hook sent him into outer space.

I think it's hard to say that with any certainty, because we have such a poor idea of just how good a lot of fighters in the Klitschko era were. We didn't even know much about Povetkin until after the Wlad fight when he went on that savage run of form. One thing we can say, a lot of fighters during that time had a ton of amateur pedigree. Fighters like Povetkin, Ibragimov, Chagaev and Solis were all world class amateurs who wouldn't have been outskilled by too many in this current division. And fighters like Chisora and Helenius are still having success today, years past their best.

hmmm. Solis done nothing in the pros

did chag win the real WBA or regular. Anyway he beat Valuev for it and then got sparked out by a past prime bouncer browne

povetkin has never been a champ. He’s purely a name now, he knows he won’t win a belt. Please don’t count any wba regulars.

Ibragimov- ancient Briggs, ancient mummified Holyfield, draw with ray Austin and a fight with wlad so bad it got heavyweight boxing pulled from TV

No, but he had the amateur pedigree. Hence wasn't totally useless on the skills front.

Bit of a gap between those two things happening mate.

I'm not rating resumes here, I'm arguing purely on the fact that all of the fighters I mentioned had proven world-class skillsets. That might or might not mean they would win out in a H2H against the best of this current era, but it's unlikely they get outboxed by many of them. Is ancient Deontay Wilder a surefire pick to beat Igragimov?

Im talking about pro records only. Pros where it counts otherwise ggg and loma would be ATG 1 and 2.

chag and Browne are basically the same age. Browne is like 9 months younger. It’s a bad loss to kop considering we know what sort of level Browne truly was at.

if iggy fought like he did v wlad then yes he would probably catch a lights out right hand at one point

Ibragimov fought to a draw with Ray Austin in an eliminator. So Ray Austin proved his equal in the "skills" department.

Solis quit against Tony Thompson, not because he was beaten or injured, but at 272 pounds, he was too tired to continue after eight rounds. Before Solis, people used to wonder if all those great Cuban amateurs of the past would've been pro champions. After Solis, people stopped wondering.

Chagaev's biggest win came against Valuev. Or was it Matt Skelton?

Povetkin's biggest win came against Chagaev.

Helenius was KOed by Duhaupas and Washington.

I think we've figured them out.

If the Klitschkos hadn't existed, the best heavyweight of that period may have been ... drumroll ....

    Marco Huck.

    (I'm only slightly kidding.)

It was a bad era. Let it go. It's much better now.

    Lol
Even Whyte had a close fight recently vs Wach. 40 year old Wach. How many facts do you need that this era is weak?

They were the first brothers to both hold world heavyweight titles at the same time. They were good role models and pugilists. However, I found them robotically boring and I watched a lot of their fights only because I wanted to see an upset. I do respect them.

I thought you were talking about H2H?

Chag's best was around 2006-2010. By the time he fought Browne he was fat, plodding and just going through the motions. Bit of a shock that Browne was the one to stop him, but not hugely devastating to his resume considering where he was at the point in his career.

He never caught a lights out right hand from prime Wlad, so why would he from an ancient Wilder?

what are you talking about? Out of shape whyte won a UD 98-93 on a 10 rounder to sharpen his tools.

wlad deemed him a credible opponent to defend his belts

if you really wanna do this. Thread Was each ranked ring top 10 No, not random boxers.

Fighters in wlads era 40+ off the top of my head who were contenders- Holyfield, mormeck, James Toney, Tarver, ouendo, Rahman, masgaev- the list could go on.

but you never stuck to topic to try and make out a former wlad challenger faired exactly the same against fat whyte. Welldone

Well wlad is extremely reluctant to throw unless he is totally set. Iggy was defensive, wlad was happy to jab and grab rounds. Fury never caught any rights that bothered him from wlad, but he damn sure caught them vs wilder.
