He doesn't seem to get anywhere near the same exposure as Mundine and Green. Pretty unfair considering Mundine in particular has fought some pretty low level fighters or gotten some 'close' decisions, whereas Kats has been mixing it with the best on the highest stage. Is there no advertising or marketing of Kats? Or is boxing just not big enough in Oz for too many stars?
Unfortunately Kats doesn't have a big mouth ego like some hence gets pushed to the side with exposure. But the real Oz fans of boxing luv him & acknowledge the great career he's had so far. Kats is a true warrior, a class act & I hope he secures that world title soon that he deserves.
Katsidis trainer on Khan and Mitchell's excuses (originally posted on British forum) http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sp...khan-hes-already-turned-us-down-says-trainer/
he gets a bit in brissie - 2nd to back page in courier mail full page. Nowhere near enough on a national scale - but I don't watch telly so don't know if there has been much on the box.
good read. I'd heard there was no chance Khan V Kats prior to the khans usa debut, but if warren is promoting he's got the dough to get it done. "No disrespect to Danny Green and the others who do a great job promoting their fights in Australia. But Michael is fighting the best boys in the division every time. He's out there on the world stage. He is the most successful born-and-bred Aussie to travel." :deal
i think he is getting to be a know fighter now, a few people have asked me. "have you heard of that Micheal Katsidis guy"? from non boxing fans, even my step dad asked me about him
Michael is a great fighter and just behind VIC on a P4P list in Aus at the moment. His problem is like Vic is he is not marketed enough, Green and Mundine have done a great job over the past 10 years, in regards to getting there name out there, who has played off whom is debatable but both are well known nationally. Paul Briggs and Danny Green 3 years ago as fighters to my way of thinking were very very close however green has earned a heap more and is much better known . Fighters ability and a fighters ability to earn a $$$ is very different in Australia
Think the last point applies everywhere Ced, but perhaps even more so here. You only have to look at US televised fights to realise that it's a particular style/type of fighter they are after, rather than just a particular quality.
Tell us something we don't know cedrick, if green is so good at getting media attention then why not throw some Katsidis way.
