I'm moving to China in a couple of months. I know that I can't get YouTube over there without a VPN, and the CCP are cracking down big time on those. I'm panicking a bit about not being able to watch decent boxing until I return home, whenever that is (maybe years). So - is anyone at all knowledgeable about the Chinese boxing scene, who to watch HOW to watch, etc? I need something to watch if I'm cut off from western boxing. To be more specific, I'm moving to Jiangxi province, which is like moving to ****ing Delaware or something. There are a few cities which in British terms are big, but compared to China as a whole I'm moving to the back of beyond. Guangdong and Shanghai are reachable on the train though. Literally ANY input would be gratefully received. Pointers to websites, a primer on Chinese boxing, info about watching boxing in China. Happily, based on previous trips, I'm pretty sure I can access this forum over there. I'd assumed Blizzy would trigger the censor's wrath but we good for now.
You poor fella, if i had any useful info i would gladly share it with you, i'm surprised you cant get Youtube in China?
They don't like big western websites. Too much freedom of speech. Their biggest wish is to rid the public sphere of any possibility of dissent. The food's great though.
I was in Guangzhou for half a year. I never saw anything boxing related over there. Never once on the TV. They love basketball over everything and football is on the rise aswell. The people dont know anything about boxing. The only boxer some of them knew was Zou Shiming (probably the government praised him to heaven). With VPN you will have no problem to access Youtube, therefore you will be able to watch the fights you wanna see with a day or two delay. Also accessing all websites you want will be possible via VPN (also this one). You will probably not be able to watch a live stream as the VPN will make your internet slow. It is very, very hard to find out anything (like a boxingevent) as the internet is censored. Oh, and the chinese are very different, you will be in for some shocks. I travelled a lot and China was the first country to shock me, its like a different world. You will know what I mean once you have been there. Have fun and bang some chicks. Peace

Thanks man. I already have a "chick to bang" (she's the only reason I'm moving) and I'm well versed in the culture shock potential - where I'm moving to, the only non-Chinese people are a handful of African students. Last time I was there, in two weeks I saw three white people and three black students. EVERYWHERE I went, I was stared at. It's not hostile, but they're not subtle about it either. They stop and turn to watch as you walk past. Thank you for your reply!
Thank you for this - but in my experience, YouKu doesn't like my phone, or vice versa. But this does seem to be my only hope. I will keep trying!
Have changed my avatar to my "chick I'm banging". I have better photos but my phone won't let me move her face centre. Anyway, she's why. She's worth it.
