Huo Yuanjia* definitely KSAB (either the Western kind or Mízōng) (*Jet Li's character in Fearless) Once there I'm sure you can find somebody "in the know" how to safely use a VPN while keeping under the radar.
As they say, "Jiangxi is for lovers" Actually idk that anyone has ever said that. But enjoy yourself!
Actually I'd kind of hoped you'd have come up with something after you reported on a Chinese fighter recently. But yeah, definitely, "Jiangxi is for lovers" was made famous in Romeo And Juliet, after the classic romance was set there, and the popularity of the phrase has rocketed since then...
We have a bunch of insider "specialists" on the Asian scene - a few expats and students from Europe living in different countries over there, and some natives of Japan & Thailand & the PI - but precious few that could shed insight on day to day life inside Cathay itself. There has to be a way to circumvent the restrictions, though, I would imagine - there are simply too many people for some to have not figured it out. What you can do will probably depend largely on who you know.
I just remembered, "Jiangxi is for lovers" is an actual thing, you're right. Sorry! **** knows why though - aside from being the home of quality porcelain it has one of China's ten famous mountains (turned into a major tourist trap by the preponderance of stone paths winding around it), a couple other good mountains, and a load of family-owned farmland. It really is one of the more anonymous provinces. Any expats out there want to weigh in? I'll bump this to **** if literally nobody responds.
Charles Martin and his infamous quote "I walk this earth like a God" (it probably wasnt a good joke...)
I got into a fight there back in November actually. Me and the love interest were in a bar - every bar there is the sort of place you have to buy six beers a time, but when you do they bring you a load of sliced watermelon, peanuts and spicy tofu strips. They had dancing girls on the stage everyone was sat around. One stocky, very drunk Chinese guy won a draw to go onstage and have a girl drape herself all over him. He played his part, and took some liberties, but then kicked off at the staff when they told him to get offstage. Eventually he walked off, but seeing me, decided I was deserving of his attention. Before that night, I'd always assumed Chinese people were a) too small to fight or b) knew kung fu and didn't have any desire to fight. This was just a typical big drunk guy who wanted a fight, especially if he could find a whitey to fight.
Lived in Shanghai for a while, China is the best country on earth if you adapt to it, **** what other people say lol. Learning a bit of Chinese would go along way though. It’s not that hard to watch whatever sports you want while in China, you probably only need VPN for YouTube and Facebook streams. CCTV5 has started to pick up the bigger fights (they showed Joshua-Parker this past weekend and prior to that showed Kovalev-Mikhalin), so they’re starting to get there. It still probably will never be as big as basketball or even soccer over there though. Jiangxi will probably be a lot different than Shanghai in terms of sports bars to watch events at, but I’m sure you’ll be able to find something.
