Earnie Shavers first and foremost. Renaldo snipes not far behind. Weaver dropped him, but he recovered quickly from that one. Tyson ended his career w/ three knockdowns, but temporarily.

Holmes was floored several times but never truly finished. Even after Tyson decked him for the third time Larry wanted to get up but three knockdown rule was in effect and Joe Cortez ( edited ) was instantly on top of him. The word “ quit “ wasn’t in Holmes’ vocabulary

Great Post! I always thought that one of his greatest qualities was his tremendous heart. The guy was tough as nails and had tons of courage.

Kevin Isaac- I hope I didn't misspell the name- knocked him down early in his career.

You sure about that, son? He looked out cold to me. Spread eagled on the canvas, arms both stretched out. He didn’t or couldn’t even make any effort to move. You trying to rewrite history here?

A lot of guys did, and for the most part he got up and put hands on him on everyone of them.

Malik Abdul Aziz in his absolute prime was the only one to ever keep him on the floor, and there's no shame in that.

Against Snipes in particular, Holmes was badly hurt and wobbled, but he got back up and fought like an absolute G.

Hi Magoo. The ref was Joe Cortez. Not sure you've got the right fight here as Joe was pulling out the mouthpiece before Larry had moved. Doesn't change the validity of your point one bit. Larry was as game as they come. Getting up from that Shavers right hand and slugging back almost immediately is the instinct of a true fighting man.

Great find! I never knew he was knocked down prior to Shavers II!

To be honest, Larry remains one of the toughest and most courageous men I've ever seen on film.
