Agreed. Going 75 fights over 30 something years and only being stopped once is a definite testimony of heart and durability.

Yeah. I would even say that the durability of his chin was even more evident than Ali's. Holmes did not avoid punishment as much as Ali did.

Yes. And Tyson's KO was nothing to brag about. It was an impressive display of power, but there was nothing in beating Holmes at that age and shape. Holmes proved more that night, that he still had bucketloads of guts.

No, Weaver never dropped Holmes...he roughed him up, hurt him..and gave Holmes some rough moments, but he didn't deck Larry.

I have always considered the moment at 16: 35 a knockdown.

If you don't agree, I understand. It could go either way imo.

I’m not sure about that William.
Post exile and when he got into the later stages of his career Ali took a lot from men like Foreman, Shavers,Lyle, Frazier and Norton etc and only suffered 1 knockdown.
Even against Shavers when way past prime he took some monster shots without being decked.

The three knockdown rule wasn't in effect Goo which probably tells the story where Larry was at.

Larry was unconscious, not even his thumping heart was getting him up.

Ali was next level. Insane really. The sustained back and forth he took (and gave) from Frazier not only to the head but to the body across three fights was incredible. I'm not sure anyone would have worn that as well as he did.

He took some big clean sots against Liston that often get overlooked too and he took them sublimely.

I agree if he'd tried to get up it would have been some degrading spectacle like berbick -tyson...and we didnt wanna see larry fall arse over elbow 3 times from one punch....not that

I'm not saying Ali didn't take a lot of killer shots. I agree with you he did. I'm just saying that he clinched, slipped, and rolled to avoid punishment. Larry on the other hand, rarely did those things.

Larry could of got up after the third knockdown from Mike ? That's some funny S**t right there, he must've dreamt it when he was lying there out cold for at least a minute, probably dreamt the three knockdown rule was in effect too.

Getting up from that Shavers right hand alone is purple heart material right there. Each time i see it im mystified how he did it

I have always thought Holmes was hurt worse against Snipes than Shavers.
