I have always thought so. He hit Holmes was several good shots before Larry went down.

The shavers knockdown was heavier, but he was more unsteady on his legs after the snipes knockdown so yes he was hurt more against snipes, I have no idea how he recovered immediately from the shavers knockdown though

The earliest significant damage, Holmes received, was from Fred Houpe ,1977 Caesars Palace. Larry was really floored, didn't know where he was at, taking plenty of punishment, barely lasted the round. He was still groggy in the next round. Fred, as I remember started to showboat , and stuck his chin out, maybe, saying "You can't hit me." Fred's manager was Red Foxx, "You big Dummy."

Duane Bobick also dropped Holmes in the first round of their amateur bout.

The Shavers punch looks like a fight ender, amazing Holmes got up. Against Snipes he went face first into the turnbuckle/neutral corner after getting up. Weaver shook him real bad at the very end of the 10th round even worse than that almost knockdown early in the fight. Point is Larry was susceptible to a right hand, but good luck keeping him down.

I understand that Mike Weaver damaged Larry Holmes ear drum in their 1979 battle.
