Usyk can do what he wants, he has clearly shown himself to be number 1. Winner of Dubois/ Parker deserves a shot at the champ but neither do anything for Usyk's resume.
I don't see much different Debois can do...try for an earlier ko...Usyk needs to pick a few fights and get out on top- Bakole is a danger along with Zhang because they are punchers and new opponents, but Usyk will probably fight the winner of DDD vs Parker or Zhang vs Kabayel -Fury -Joshua winner will have a rebirth but both men are slipping Kabayel is a good body puncher but has to get past Zhang who can punch. Usyk will fight a few more times and get out.
I don't necessarily WANT it per se, but if Dubois defeats Parker then I think it is worth it, plus when Usyk wins again it will permanently shutdown the bitter guys still arguing low blow or not. If Parker defeats Dubois then I want Usyk vs Parker and forget Dubois.
because Usyk didn’t win because of a low blow. Dubois landed a low blow, the ref called a halt, and Usyk returned to battering him until DDD quit on his knee
He won because the WBA fabricated a soft touch title defense for him. Then he did fight in Poland in front of a Pro-Ukraine crowd and got a favorable call on a borderline bodyshot. Then Dubois quit, like they expected him to do anyways, that’s what’s he was brought in for.
If Dubois beats Parker and Usyk is still wanting to continue fighting, then yes why not all the belts on the line, what is there not to like. Dubois is up for the fight. I still want Usyk to retire while being the champion, no fighters in near future as challengers are going to add to Usyks legacy.
I do. It will allow Usyk to collect another belt and conclusively put to rest the "controversy" surrounding the first bout. Thereafter I'd like to see Usyk drop down and batter Zurdo, outpoint Opetaia, and then ride off into the sunset as the very best of the post-Pac/Floyd generation.
Well as others have said, if he beats Parker he's earned a rematch unlike some of these automatic rematches. See Fury and Joshua ,,,so yeah. Plus if Dubois wins he'll be more active than a 37 year old
The lesser competition (as compared to Usyk) might or might not be a bit a misleading as to Dubois’ development since losing to Olek. However, one difference that might be the most arguable is Dubois bringing more commitment to his game than when he fought Usyk. Olek was going to win any which way but Dubois did appear to surrender to some degree, yielding earlier than he should have. On the flip side, I think Dubois got the first taste of a more planted and aggressive Usyk, a precursor to the revised version that faced Fury in fights 1 and 2 - an older, less mobile Usyk upping the ante on the bad intentions behind his punches. If he secures a rematch will Dubois try on the low blows again? I think the answer is: of course, with Dubois hoping that Usyk gets treated like the boy who cries wolf (even though Usyk doesn’t fit the old saying) with the ref letting the low blows pass. Imo, on the heels of the Dubois fight, Fury also deliberately tried on several low blows to rattle Usyk - and the ref basically did sweet you know what about it.
There is NO NEED for a second fight with Dubois. Joseph Parker has been his WBO mandatory for a long time, he deserves the fight. And as a former WBO champion and one of the best heavyweights of the current era, he would be another good name on Usyk's resume. Usyk should fight Parker, then his WBC mandatory Kabayel, then retire.
I'd love to see it. I suspect Usyk wants no part of Dubois mk2 at this stage of his career and we will see Parker, Kabayel and a money fight against anyone he wants....
I dont want to see him against anyone tbh. Let him retire and lets have DD vs Parker for the new number one.
