there are more men in prison that could easily be champion of the world over todays champs of any weight class and they will never get the chance cause they are incarcerated? can you name name any of them ? i talking bout just mean nasty *******s that can just fight and love it ,but cant get out of the can.
I'm sure there are men everywhere that could be champion but will never (for whatever reason(s)) get into the ring.
Huh, with what is it, one out of every 100 Americans imprisoned, half of them on bull**** drug charges, no doubt there are some potentially great fighters in that bunch; if they didn't have the prerequisite capacity for hate before they went in, you can bet they do now. Great fighters, great musicians, and guess what, doctors, lawyers, teachers, writers, scientists, you name it. I'd always heard that America was becoming a throwaway society, but people? I will go out on a long sturdy limb and say that, if there is a God, a maker, on our day, our judgment day as a race, human race that is, the primary sin, the thing we will have to answer for at the gates of St. Peter, is our systematic waste of our most valuable natural resource: PEOPLE!
I think guys being in prison just makes them more hungry to be a good boxer. They have so much more to gain and less to lose than the average Joe. I mean look at Bernard Hopkins. Thats where he learned how to fight.
As I said, not evey one in prison is a Liston or even Hopkins. Dempsey came from the mining camps. Louis from a broke black communtion. Marciano from a shoe factory. Johnson from his down on his race. Its not like the drug dealer next door gets arrested, and comes out ruleing boxing like he is Liston.
