It's blatantly clear to any real boxing fan that this guy is a delusional, schizophrenic ******ed muppet. He suffers from that mental condition (don't know the name) where somebody develops a fix on a mainstream celebrity based on newspaper interviews and public image. He has a hard time accepting that the underwear he has sent to Ricky Hatton has been returned unopened! So he develops a kind of denial symptom where he holds the man responsible for everything from global warming to the murder of JFK. This manifests itself in absence from the Internet message boards which form his sad little life until there's a big Hatton story and then he comes running back. Amongst the delusions:

one of the nicest guys inBritish boxing who nobody who has met him has a bad word to say about is really a complete twat.
A guy who has fought four pound for pound fighters and two number ones is a cherrypicker who avoids the best.
Junior Witter who made a big splash in the media about wanting Hatton but was found absent when it came to putting an offer on the table is some kind of whitaker/mayweather cross with Hearns power.
The #3 p4p happened ti conveniently get shot the moment Hatton fought him despite coming off a career best KO of the division #2 who himself just happened to get shot before that fight.
His man crush on Hatton which lead to this syndrome never happened.
A guy who has a City season ticket really supports United.
The fact that a lot of fans choose to go to watch him and follow him of their own free will means they're all idiots who are being conned and only the enlightened swollocks can see the truth (so said the flat earth theorists)
a two weight world champ with half a dozen titlists and two pound for pound on his cv is no better than a clubfighter (see Stewart/Oliveira for what he does to clubfighters).

This peculiar condition also extends to the lowest of the low. Slating someone's family, girlfriend, son and anything associated with him in a "you say the sky is blue I swear it's green/ moon is made of cheese" way. The sad thing is the poor excuse for a creature could be cured of he only admitted he had a problem. Spending hours searching the Internet for every Hatton interview going in the hope of finding a sentence or two you can pick apart and maybe point out that it's not quite the same as something he said three years ago is not normal behaviour. He can't even spell **** correctly! A psychiatrist could yet help the poor bloke! But will he admit he needs help? Not on your nelly!

Its funny how many posters here are only interested in one fighter. I always laugh when I see Betty posts in Ricky Hatton threads, it is a bit strange

    Thats a fair enough post.

I dont think being a drunk foul mouthed chav who makes money his God is really being down to earth.

hattons not the devil either - but he certainly is no role model.

Down to earth is someone I would class like Clinton Woods or even Lennox Lewis a level headed guy with good manners.

Very true Flint, but boxing is and has always been full of flawed heroes. It seems to come with the territory. It just seems strange that some people zoom in on just one of them....

Dear God Ive heard it all now in terms of delusional muppetry! A role model? No, and he's never made any bones about the lifestyle. A nice down to earth guy who always put on a good show for his fans and had time for the normal things in life yeah. A very good fighter who can bec proud of his achievements in the ring, sure. Someone worthy of having his every move and word analysed and twisted by some deranged cyber stalker, definitely not.

I don't remember John Conteh getting much stick for not being a "role model". Mind you that was before the Internet provided an outlet for some of the more obsessive types of loon to get their "opinions" across.

It's a sign of the times more than the internet. When celebraties have to hide the fact that they smoke, rock stars pretending they're clean living and people freaking out over footballers ridin a hooker or two.

Who said anything about being drunk of foul mouthed? This is yet more of the muppetry which swollocks comes out with constantly to detract from the issue. Hanging out with the same mates you did as a teenager, having **** shirt contests at your local, still living within a stones throw of your folks, taking sick kids into the ring as your mascot, that's being down to earth. If you have a genuine problem with him drinking and swearing then fair enough but I hope you are just as moralistic and holier than thou with all your mates at weekend otherwise you are nothing but a hypocrite.

I agree about Lewis and Woods to an extent, however, those guys never had to contend with their every word being relentlessly twisted and their actions wing plastered all over the papers when they so muc as take a dump the way Hatton does.

As for that claptrap about making money his God I really expected better from you. This is nothing more than another transparent Swollocks attempt to make the fact that the guy has done well for himself financially into a negative. More spin than Shane Warne that lad. The real boxing fans (as opposed to haters of a celebrity) are not fooled. Please engage your brain before posting, thank you!

Yeah, maybe. I guess I'm old but I just don't get grown men "tutting" over stuff like this like old women gossiping over the garden fence.

No matter how much I disliked a famous personality I'd be too proud to lower myself to act like a 60 year old woman in order to have a go a them....Betty and Nutjob seem to have no such qualms.

See previous post. Drink and drugs have nothing to do with it. Friendliness, concern for those less fortunate, family values and sticking close to your roots do. When someone starts a ten page thread objecting to him having an expensive watch then it borders on obsession. Please engage your brain before posting, thank you!
