Let me make things clear from the start: I'm a Calzaghe "hater".

I've just put £50 on him to win on betfair @1.47.

As far as I'm concerned, there is NO WAY Jones wins this fight. Its like me fighting a 2008 Muhammad Ali. I'm gonna win, but that hardly means I'm the better fighter

Does anyone else put money on the fighter that they dont want to win???

ie If Calzaghe wins this fight, I'm pissed off but at least I have won £20 (Emotional Insurance).

If Jones wins the fight (which he wont), I've lost £50, but I dont care, as I'm happy as f*ck!!! :good

Its a really good idea that i've considered lots of times but never actually done. ..... Its like how much would you pay to see fighter A beat fighter B..... Fighter A wins your happy coz B got bombs in his face... Fighter B wins... emotional insurance.. good idea.

"Emotional insurance" - great idea...but always bet a little bit on the draw as well, just in case!;)

Depends whether or not you are the kind of person who sees the glass as (a) half empty, or (b) half full.

To some it would be a win-win situation, as you have outlined, but to others it would be a lose-lose situation.

Its down to the individuals personality. But hey, what do I know? I'm not a betting man.

    Good idea in theory.

It might be my second betting strategy after "always bet on Calzaghe to win"

I've done this often in many sports.

I make no connection between who I want to win, and my judgements of the probabilities vs the odds offered.

Emotional Insurance would do my head in.

Though implanning to bet money on Paulie beating Hatton, and do quite like Hatton, well used to anyway, he is beginning to get on my tits.

Draw is 28/1 so if you've bet 50 quid it's perhaps worth putting another 2 quid on to cover yourself - just in case (remember Lewis/Holly). Jones very much wants a rematch... $$$$

**** the emotional insurance, the extreme emotions are what makes fights great and memorable, I was gutted after hatton lost to mayweather however I'll always remember the fight and I enjoy watching it to re live the experience, the passion, the emotions.
