Does Anyone Else Feel Kelly Pavlik Should Be Fighting Anthony Mundine Next?

Mundine's post 9/11 comments have tainted him in Arum's eyes. Bottom line, HBO controls the money and the fights. What has Mundine got going for him? A bit of speed, but no power at MW. He can't keep Pavlik off of him. He vacated his title at SMW rather than fight Kessler. That didn't raise his stock much. He is making a good living in Oz and I doubt he really wants to mess that up with a bout with Kelly. He will use his name and make it sound like he wants the fight, but he will never make an valid offer. I think you can take that one to the bank.

So where does Mundine fit into that equation? He vacated his belt rather than let Kessler take it off him.

He already fought Kessler. Im a big Pavlik fan. All i want to see my man do is fight the best. I just think Mundine is the biggest test out there for him so i want to see him in it. I caught the kessler fight a few hours ago, no where near as wide as what people were saying. Very competitive early and late in the fight. Kessler dominated the middle rounds.

I checked his boxrec he has the IBO, the more i read and watch videos on this guy. The more the fight makes sense. Its unification and his last opponent was very good id pick Gale over Lorenzo and Sylvester.

From what i have seen of him he has some good movement and defensive skills. I think Pavlik will win. And a win in such a fight may rectify his loss to Hopkins a bit and show he can match it with speed and skill.

Pavlik/Sturm: If Kelly wants to stay at 160 over the long haul, this is the most meaningful fight he could have.

Pavlik/Williams: This is Haglar/Hearns II! Not the same skill level, but just as intense.

Pavlik/Martinez: If you stop and consider the fact that a ring worn Bronco McKart is the best southpaw on KP's record, you simply must conclude that on a developmental level this is a smart fight to make.

Pavlik/Winky: Developmentally the same as Martinez, and would settle an old rivalry that has never made it to the ring.

Pavlik/Balzsay: Very smart fight if KP wants to move up. It would position him for a huge payday with Bute, and the winner would be an obvious choice to fight the winner of the Showtime tourney.

Pavlik/Mundine: Geale's people said he wasn't ready for Abraham, and turned down a fight, but they took a fight with Mundine. Geale would not last 4 rounds with KP, but he did quite well with Mundine. This should tell us a lot about Mundine's real position at 160. Unless Mundine borrowed Rubio's turbo charged track shoes, Pavlik/Mundine is not a fight. It's a God Damn assination.

Oright fair enough. I think your over rating Pavlik here though. And under rating Mundine. An Assasination? The same guy Kessler couldn't assasinate. And as some one who is not bias, how can you honestly say Rubio and Geale are on the same level? Geale is the better fighter in nearly every department.

I think Mundine would have trashed Geale if the Mundine from the Green fight turned up.

I do not think we will see the top notch Mundine ever again. I am afriad it is his eye-sight.

As a Pavlik fan theres two things i don't want to see. Him in there with a smaller guy, someone from 54. And him in there with someone who is scared, i think Sturm. I like seeing Pavlik dig deep and have to use his will to beat fighters who arent just standing there to trade with him. Thats why i like the Taylor fights so much.

I never made any comparison between Rubio and Geale.
Mundine today is NOT the same fighter he was against Kessler.

Bottom line: Mundine has not taken care of his name outside of Australia for years, and that means none of us really believes he is to be taken seriously on a world scale.

Sure, he will milk him IBO belt in Australia, but so what?

It is 1 minute to 12 if he wants to prove something.

First step: Make REAL and VERIFIABLE offers to Pavlik and Sturm.

Agreed, except for Mundine, he is a good fighter still and would keep things interesting against Pavlik, not just enough for a win, IMO.

Just my feel for the matchups:

Pavlik - Sturm: pretty good bout.
    Pavlik - Williams: great bout.
    Pavlik - Martinez: good bout.
    Pavlik - Balzsay: good bout.
    Pavlik - Mundine: good bout.
Pavlik - Winky: decent bout (could be boring, Winky's moment is not ideal, bad timing for this one).
Pavlik - Mora: decent bout in terms of level of competition, but it surely would be boring.

I may be under rating Mundine. I can't stand the guy.

Maybe you dont know what your talking about.

Mundine smashed Danny Green through 12 rounds...Green went on to win the WBA LHW world title.

Mundine has beaten Soliman 3 times and Soliman gave a prime Wright hell and many locals at the fight thought Soliman won the fight.

He said some dumb ass things about 911 but if he ever gets to the states to fight a good promoter will paint him as the bad guy and lots of people will turn up to see the big mouth shut.

I know this is true because in Australia 70% of the punters pay to see Mundine get KTFO...not pay to win.

He is a good fighter with good skill....RING had him at number 4 SMW and number 8 MW....to say everybody thinks hes crap is very wrong :deal

People may not like him but they dont think hes crap.
