i said in the post that i know some of the fights were cons and shouldn't have been PPV, but i was still eager to watch them because of all the build up.

From 2016 - 2019 we had These fights which you can't deny were all exciting and dramatic and well worth £20.
    GGG Brook
    Haye Bellew 1
    Brook Spence
    Whyte Parker
    Usyk Bellew
    AJ Povetkin
    AJ Ruiz 1
Whyte Chisora 1 (wasn't even main event, had AJ as well)

Then you'd had these fights which were not as entertaining as the above but still worth £20 because of the world titles at stake or the highlight reel KO (whyte chisora 2)
    Frampton Quigg
    Loma Cambell
    whyte chisora 2
    Aj Ruiz 2
    Taylor Prograis

All of this from the start of 2016 to the end of 2019, if you come back and say none of it was worth it then you're either a robot with no emotion who shouldn't really watch sport or you're just a matchroom hater who loves to be in the minority and leave negative comments because its 'cool'.

Good era in the sense of it being the days before social media made novice pros think they're all superstars before they've earned their stripes.

Mods probably cleaned it up because it was just Safin giving out a load of insults because people disagreed with him.

Absolutely not, it was a dreadful time for boxing and to be frank, we’re still in that ‘era’. Hearn might have switched to DAZN, and some of his fighters have moved to Probellum or Boxxer but nothing’s changed.

Appreciate it’s the time you got in to the sport, but sounds like you’ve brought a bit too much in to the ‘golden era for British boxing’ narrative. You’ll always get ‘great nights’ and moments, as it’s boxing, but it’s a dreadful time in general. Here’s a few reasons why off the top of my head.

    1. Boxers becoming automatic PPV headliners not based on achievements, but just because they tell us they are and won’t get out of bed for anything less - Whyte, Chisora, Bellew, Parker etc.

    2. Broadcasters so in bed with promoters and fighters that you lose any objectivity in the broadcast.

    3. Promoters jumping on the women’s sport bandwagon when anyone with half a brain knows it’s just because they can pay them pittance and still manage to look progressive.

    4. The continued segmentation of the sport (particularly in the US) and exclusive broadcaster deals meaning so many fights never get made

    5. As a result of this, so much posturing on social media by fighters who have no intention of following through with it.

    6. Shite judging, borderline corrupt officiating that gets called out but nothing ever actioned or changed.

    7. sanctioning bodies adding more and more titles, devaluing world champion status and misleading the public.

    8. Pretty open criminal involvement at the top level of the sport while everybody looks the other way and ignores it.

I don’t miss that time at all. Mainly cos a lot of it was ****, and the fact we’re still living it. Nothings changed.

There were some great ‘events’ but not a huge amount of great fights, no.

Thing is you’ve created a thread feeling nostalgic for an era of boxing that we’re still in. From all your examples, what you really mean is you miss the hype, buzz, showbiz and drama that Sky and Matchroom used to cook up for PPVs. And that’s cool, but you need to look at the Sport through a wider prism if you are trying to portray it as some epic era.

I just want to see good regular dust ups. I can appreciate some of the quality international fights which, DAZN seem to be aiming more towards.

DAZN certainly seems to be a channel aimed at the hardcore - in which case it’s surprising Hearn has gone with them as his entire model pre-DAZN was pretty much aimed at casuals.

I liked 2012-about 2019. All them decent lads from that time have retired. There’s nobody to really get excited about now.
