I just can´t believe people keep buying Canelo´s PPVs at nearly $100 a piece. Most of his fights are incredibly dull, with just a few exceptions. Last night´s undercard was above average, but they´re usually **** too.

    I’ve said this before.

You can tell what fights of Canelo’s fights are fixed by how boring they are.

Post GGG 2 his fights have been incredibly boring to watch. He is a skilled fighter but has a few robberies (GGGx2 and Lara). However since GGG 2 there has been a theme where numerous fighters have pitty pattied Canelo, not even tried to win and looked completely different to their usual self whilst Canelo just simply plods forward looping punches to arms and elbows (displaying far less skill than he did in either GGG fights).

For example, Kovalev knocked essentially a cruiser in Yarde out with a jab the fight before Canelo. He was hesistant to Yardes punches throughout that fight. However, Kovalev LITERALLY pitty patties Canelo and throws next to zero right hands all night two months later as well as showing no hesitation (nowhere near the level against Yarde) to Canelo’s punches.

Kovalev was apparently scared of Canelo’s counters all night despite the fact Canelo had no knockouts on his resume (outside 140lber Khan) and was coming up not one but TWO weight classes to fight Kovalev. Kovalev wasn’t hesitant at all to much smaller Canelo’s punches but was against Yarde ..yet he was scared of Canelo’s mythical power and counterpunching…lol..sure guys, sure…he did this for 11 rounds before letting himself get “knocked out”

We’ve had similar fighters - Callum Smith, Yildrim, GGG 3 and now Charlo perform similarly…

This is some real suspect **** but people cover this **** with “Charlo came to survive”, “came for the payday” “scared of the counters”…

Canelo isn’t some mythical super awesome counterpuncher. He’s skilled but he is very flat footed and has very overrated power. Counterpunches don’t just automatically cause an opponent to not throw punches let alone hard punches…all night

He's not really an exciting fighter but by the same toke he's not really a boring one either

He's an elite level fighter with a great chin, very good power, combines great offence and defence and is very effective at what he does but he's pretty economical and low volume

His skill level is elite but it's not like he's a magician who can wow you with his skills like say a Loma or to a lesser degree Usyk both of whom combine great offence and defence whilst being busier and throwing a lot more punches

He has the personality of a mannequin wearing a ginger wig which doesn't help either and has the same dopey expression on his face all the time and I'm not alluding to a poker face in the ring either. He looks like a cardboard cutout or a waxwork

The first two GGG fights were exciting though

Yes, a bit ''dull'' as opposed to boring would be the best way to describe his fights, for the most part that is. No charisma or personality and his fights tend to be a bit dull but he's not a boring fighter.

What's exciting about watching a boxer handpick opponents knowing they virtually have about 20% chance of winning? After watching him get clowned by Fraud Mayweather and Bivol, his team knows who to pick and who to duck. It's that simple.

I've never been a huge fan, although never a huge critic. In a sense, I'm like you, kind of indifferent. To me, he kind of a "ho hum" ATG.

He doesn't interest me much one way or the other, which is precisely why I didn't watch the fight. That along with the outrageous PPV fee of $85 persuaded me that the appropriate course action was to check the RbR. I actually fell asleep and had to catch up with what happened today!

Your are sill stuck in 2013, man. Load the upgrade. His footwoork is anything but bad nowadays, actually he has a very good footwork imho.

The days when he had the worst footwork ever watched in boxing are way past.

The way he has improved his footwork, btw, is one of the most impressive things I've ever watched regarding boxers evolution. Amazing work, absolutely amazing the way he improved it. Unreal, hard to believe.

    Same.

I didn't see the fight last night. I didn't watch the Ryder fight. I think I watched the end of the Caleb Plant bout. Never saw the Yildirim or Smith fights.

I saw the Golovkin fights and never thought any of them were entertaining at all. Any of them.

People went on and on about those fights, but the only thing interesting in those to me was the bad scoring. And there's bad scoring all the time (so it wasn't that big of a deal to me).

For me, he stopped being exciting around the Cotto fight, another dreadfully dull match. And that was a long time ago.

I appreciate that he's one of the top fighters. I appreciate his accomplishments. I know he'll probably go down as one of the greats from this century.

But, honestly, the only fights of his I was really interested in and enjoyed in many years were the Kovalev fight and the Saunders match, because I found Saunders (and his son) so freaking annoying. And those both ended in an exciting way.

But I really don't have much interest in him .. at ALL.

If I hear one of his fights was exciting, I'll catch a replay. But he's been pretty boring to me for so many years I don't get excited about any of his matches.

His lack of volume makes him boring.

The narrative around him is exciting and the marketing of him is excellent.

His fanbase will always follow him and generate the PPV revenue.

However, he's pretty dull to watch and has been post COVID. Not his fault though. He's adapting to a higher weight and stronger opponents.

I used to love watching Canelo fights but recently he seems to have started plodding around the ring throwing long, wound up single punches. I think he’s fallen in love with his so called power.

It was a joy to behold back when he was moving his head and throwing razor sharp counters and combinations. It feels like he’s regressed as a boxer.

I appreciate what Canelo does, and I enjoy it. That doesn't make it exciting.

I can't quantify why Canelo isn't exciting but he's just not lol.

That doesn't mean I don't enjoy what he does though.

Exciting and great fighter, future hall of famer and ATG.

Non exciting fighters were Ward, Ottke, Wlad, Lara. I want to see someone throw a punch.
