Does anyone else think 140lbs is too much for Pacquaio?

Personally, no, I do not. Roach has already stated that regardless of what happens they're never going below 140 again. Manny looks plenty filled in and powerful at 140, I've been watching him myself.

Now, will this be the excuse if Hatton wins? OF COURSE.

san rafael, I've seen alot of Hatton interviews. In every single interview Hatton says "I'm too big for him, I'm too strong, he is not a real JrWW."

 

ummm no this is actually a perfect weight for pacquiao and this is the weight he should stay at. I think 147 is too big for him but 140 lbs is fine. He still has the speed as it showed at 147 lbs so 140 should be just fine for him.

 

what makes pq special is his ability to win over oponents naturally bigger than him. i think that is one of the reasons why many consider him the best p4p in his sport. some are discounting his win over dela hoya but, the fact remains that dela hoya was above the 140lbs when pq battered him. what else can pq do to prove to the whole world that he can be as he is now competent to conquer even those bigger than him, like hatton.
are we suggesting here that pq has to fight and defeat first all the 140 and up lbs boxers on their prime before he can be considered as a legitimate 140lbs. fighter? we must be joking. we are ignoring the facts that many fighters were able to defeat their much bigger oponents. of course, size is a factor but not the only factors. to believe the otherwise tantamounts to a malicious denial of historical facts. most of mike tyson, evander holyfield, etc. oponents were bigger than them. but these boxers have qualities other than their size. same is true with pq. his speed, his power, his heart, etc. are too much of a plus to ignore with.

 

fair enough. i read what you said carefully enough. as it first appeared, it seemed to be pushing for the assessment that manny was somehow making the cut for those much smaller divisions when he was, in fact, by measure of bmi, a bigger fighter--or, maybe, i just read it that way. i understand completely what you mean since you cleared it up and, like i say, that seems fair enough and i don't really take issue with it at all.

pac's fighting weight is now around 149 while still retaining speed and decent power. he is practically a normal LWW now. based on his current fighting weight, @147, pac is a small WW so 140 should suit him better.

on the other hand, hatton is a big LWW with a fighting weight of around 153-154. hatton has about a 4-5 lb advantage in weight vs. pac.

 

i dont think you can be sure one way or the other. this fight should answer a lot of questions, including if this weight is too much for him.

yep .. he weighed 148.5 lbs on fight night against DLH .... I think that 140 is great for him now.

 

OK... So Pacquiao knocks Hatton the **** out - what then? We're supposed to take Ricky "I'm fighting for the P4P title" Hatton seriously now? If you're already claiming that he's too small for Hatton, then why pick Pacquiao? Do we have to go into what Hatton says? If that's what we have to do, then let's come out with all the crap he said in the leadup to the Mayweather fight for some context.
