Does anyone else think Cotto's fight dirty?

After watching some highlight reels of Cotto, it seems that once he is frustrated, he starts to fight dirty, body slams, low blows, arm hooks, rabbit punches.

I'm not hating on the man, I think he is a strong opponent for anyone, but without his bag of tricks, you think he'd get more respect?

hmm says... yeah I guess that's normal for fighters to do when they get frustrated. I noticed it too with Cotto but don't know, other than this thread, if it's been mentioned.

I don't think he fights dirty in that particular respect. But he is in there to do business.

He does throw some low blows, however, and at times he does some "clubbing" along with actual punching.

what about the throw he did to Clottey, and to Urkal? It's almost like when he gets frustrated that bad Puerto Rican temper comes out.

how is that not an automatic 1 point deduction? This isn't the WWE

    No.

Because when he faced the most adversity (Margarito), he didn't resort to those tactics. Which tells me he isn't a dirty fighter. If he low-blowed Judah on purpose, he would have sunk a few nutt punches on Tony to try slowing him down.

overall I would say no. Cotto is a true fighter though, and things get rough on the inside, plus the body attack is a big part of his game, its easy to stray low at times in the heat of battle.

so your saying Urkal jumped on Cotto? come one, watch the replay, it was 100% intentional.

hmm says... I don't think he's a genuinely dirty guy and Clottey did a good job overacting/selling that suplex.

Probably his temper. You'll see alot of very good fighters that will do something like that. I do notice that he'll do it with fighters that have same issues(clottey, judah). He did not do that with margarito and he was getting blasted.

Well, my thoughts walking into the Pac fight are that Pacs speed and footwork will be enough to frustrate him. I'm wondering with Cotto be the bigger man, if he will resort to some of the less than honorable tactics he has used in the past.

hmm says... we all know Pac doesn't fight dirty so if Cotto resorts to such actions to pull a win.. I'll just lose respect. Other than that.. boxing is boxing... stuff like this is pretty normal, but on the big stage, it gets intense and controversial.

He's rough no question ad frustration does seem to get to him. Wouldn't go so far as to call him dirty though.

He probably should have lost a point for the throw but then Clottey wasn't exactly being careful with his head ( and lets not even mention the play acting, twice ! ) so I guess it all came out in the wash

Clottey and Urkal both have a history of leading with their heads. Both headbutted Cotto and cut him over the eye prior to any foul he committed towards them. Whether the Clottey headbutt was intentional or not is debatable. However, Urkal's headbutts were blatant and frequent.

As you can see, Urkal gets a running start and lunges forward with his head...misses, but comes back with a follow up headbutt that finds the target.

I'm usually not one to condone fouling. But if someone repeatedly fouls and gets away with it, then they should expect similar treatment coming back their way.

I hope not, but if pacman starts it, cotto will end it. I doubt that pacman will force cotto to be frustrated enough to do something stupid. Now, the vice versa i do see and i bet roach will push it.
