Does anyone else think the stoppage in Pacquiao-Cotto was premature and wrong ?

The stoppage was a lil premature but there was still 2 plus minutes left in the round when pac hit him with the left straight. If the ref didn't stop the fight, cotto was gonna recieve 10-20 more punches which would cost the fight to be stopped. So either way pac would win by tko. Cotto didn't complained so it was a good stoppage.

Yes compared to the punishment he'd taken in previous rounds, it was **** all to stop the fight for, and yes the ref should have let him make the bell, i think someone may have had a lot of money on 12th rnd KO

Yall act like Cotto was getting beat down in the corner like De La Hoya, from what I remember Pac was barely hitting Cotto in the later rounds, Pac was actually getting frustrated trying to get the knockout while Cotto was moving and jabbing. I definitely had a problem with the stoppage, they clearly just wanted another knockout on Pac's record. The HBO commentators were even trying to convince people before the stoppage, when Cotto was clearly outboxing/frustrating Manny while battering his face with jabs.

Cotto took that beating for 12 rounds he should been rewarded for his heart, and allowed to finish the fight like the warrior he was. Stopping the fight after of of that Cotto took was a slap in the face to him, if the fight should have been stopped it should of happened around round 8 or 9 when he was getting punished.

cotto's heart would not let himself take a knee. He couldn't be dropped cold. The ref was waiting for cotto's corner to throw in the towel but Santiago kept on asking for one more round from his charge. THere was real danger in the 12th, Pac was going in for the KO.

I think that same day, Z Gorez went into a coma after receiving a big punch from the 12th. Boxing is brutal and I am glad COtto came out with his health intact.

It wasn't premature. It actually came 2-3 rounds late. Ref should have stopped it when Cotto started to run

The ref stopped it after Cotto got hammered with a left hand. He was being beaten to a pulp. It should have been stopped way, way sooner. The ref finally did his job.

Two more seconds and Pac 'might' land a punch that might damage Miguel Cotto permanently. So yeah, if you're a real fan, be thankful it was stopped.

Cotto didnt want to fight to WIN at that point it was merely survival and when a fighter is doing that....the REF has every right to stop it.

It was weird how it seemed like Freddie had to convey the point that Cotto signed up for a fight and Pac should get the job done. He really did seem to need coaxing to it. He must have really liked Cotto.
