Does anyone else think Woods was a disgrace?

It was frustrating to see him go down so lamely and Tarver would admit that he didn't have to do a hell of a lot. After the first few rounds Tarver looked to be sucking up air a little but Clinton didn't apply any pressure. How one of the judges got it as close as 116-112 I don't know. Was even more disappointed with Clinton's interview in the ring afterwards saying he was just happy to be there as the plucky Brit loser

It was one fight too many. No disgrace in that as long as he is man enough to admit it and hang up his gloves.

The only thing I found disgraceful is how Clinton constantly refered to himself as 'a skinny lad from Sheffield' before & after the fight! Sorry Clinton, but you are kidding yourself on if you think you are a skinny bloke;)

What a sly way to give himself a backhanded compliment!

Now Derry Matthews, THATS a skinny bloke. Not Clinton Woods. If Clinton is skinny, then Im an drunkorexic

As an American fan invading your forum, I was extremely disappointed in Woods. I had told friends that he would pressure and beat up a shot Tarver, and he offered up very little fire at all. He fought with great urgency against Jones but seemed to have little interest in applying himself here.

Anyway, I respect Woods a lot and hated to see him perform that way, and all the best in his hopeful retirement.

I think the fight against Glen Johnson was the slippery road down to an end of a career. He took a lot of punishment in that fight, especially in the late rounds , he nearly got stopped and although i was a very close fight, i thought Johnson just nicked it. I think that fight was the start of one too many.

I think the reference about the skinny lad thing, was when he started boxing and not how his physique is now.

I just watched the fight in full for the first time earlier on, & I think it was a styles thing, big Clint was too square on & couldnt work out Tarvers lefty side on style, every time Woods walked in he got countered, & Tarver was really smart throwing mainly arm punches, & just letting the odd big shot go, fighting like a true vet & doing what the great cuban amateurs once did. when throwing a combo just throw one hard punch, & let the softer punches steal the judges eye, thus conserving energy & scoring.

Clinton was brave, & showed he has a great chin cos he took some big shots from Tarver. You have to remember also, Clinton hasnt been used to chasing a fighter down, in the recent past hes been fighting come forward sluggers.
Woods would be mad to retire after that, hes shown he still has enough to win another version of the title. He just got outfoxed by a wily veteran who remember had an awesome amateur career, Tarver knows how to look after himself.

I think Woods should have roughed Tarver up a bit more, manhandle him & throw & push him around a bit to see how Tarvers shaky legs would have handled it. He may have got warned & points deducted, but when you are fighting a guy on shaky legs, you have to take him to the trenches. Woods was maybe just a bit too overawed in there that night.

I agree. Woods was AWFUL. Tarver looked shite as he always does, but despite this Clinton simply didn't seem interested. I, for one, was very disappointed with his performance
