Does anyone feel dissapointed by B-Hop?

Hopkins has nothing to prove vs. these young guys and now he's offered the chance to avange that early-career defeat, which he thinks (and we all know) happened when Hopkins wasn't half the HOF fighter he's become since then. Roy is obviously not 100% anymore but let me tell you this: if Roy is shot, no way he gets past Danny Green. If he can beat him, it's an interesting fight.

 

This isn't a fight to prove who is better. This is a fight between two guys who are past their prime but marquee draws and will be an interesting fight. What more could we ask for?

 

treating it as it is, a fight between two HOF rivals at the end of their careers, it's great. roy was better when they were green, who's better when they are seasoned?

Honestly, Hopkins has proved his greatness many times over. He's earned the right to choose who to fight, and from what I can tell there are no plans to retire after Jones, so maybe Hopkins will take on a Dawson or an Ademek some time in the future, but if he doesn't, so what...

 

i agree. hopkins is at that stage where he can fight rick frazier and i won't give a ****; he's earned any opponent he damn well wants

 

It's disappointing in the "best fight the best" sense. But he has a good string of high quality opponents and this is his chance to settle an old score and go out on a winning note. Yeah, I'd rather see Dawson or Ademak and don't really have much interest in this fight but if this satisfies him, I won't argue.

It's no legacy fight by a longshot, but he doesn't need one. Very winnable/personally satisfying/good pay makes the risk/reward hard to resist.

 

I think he will go for the knock out which will be the only thing acceptable in Bhops eyes, or else a serious 12 round beat down.

 

The guy is in his 40s for christ sake. Give him a break.

Dissappointed in B-Hop? Not in the least....the mans almost 45! I can't blame him for not wanting to chase Dawson (who would win by UD IMO) or fight Adamek for short money.....Jones looked fantastic his last outing and a lot of fans have been wanting to see a rematch....let both these lehends get one last pay day before they ride off in the sunset....they deserve it.

 

12 round beat down for hopkins would be FAR more satisfying. he'd like to prove his superiority over roy, even a far gone roy and a blow out won't do that

 

Disagree.

He has proved himself time and time again against young fighters, and he's always taken risks. Roy Jones is the only guy who has beaten Hopkins convincingly, so he cannot in any way be blamed for pursuing this fight (regardless of whether Roy is passed it).

He wants it, Roy wants it, and the fans want it (especially me, come on B-Hop, execute him!)
