You are probably right, but beating Hatton at 140 would change alot of minds.

i really do believe manny is that good of a fighter. that oscar was officially shot on dec. 6 was magnified by manny's performance. i think vs. any top 10 welter oscar might of had lost, but other than the top 3 which are pw, margo, and cotto, i really don't think they destroy oscar like manny did, which makes him special in my eyes. let's not forget manny was not training to fight a shot oscar, i simply give the man his due

You seem to have some sort of mental block. Dlh looked skinny, soft, and smaller than Pac. Dlh was only taller than PAc. The weight loss killed Dlh. When fans feel that PAc beat a prime great fighter he will get the credit he deserves from all fans. If people are so-called hating on Pac, why??? He does everything right...right?

You make a man a massive underdog going intoa fight and say that he has no chance and only a moron would say otherwise then you gotta give him credit when he wins.

If Dlh fought AM or Williams at 147, they would've destroyed him far worse than Pac. Dlh quit against PAc basically acknowledging that he didn't have it anymore which is what old fighters do when they know their time is up.

35 is not that old. He could still come back at 154 healthy. It is true, Pac was healthier looking and more muscle. Oscar looked weak, skinny, and his defence and jab was not there. I will always believe he was weight drained. We will see soon what Oscar is going to do next and also how Pac will look against Hatton or a healthy WW. Pac is still a special fighter and deserves some credit.

Pac deserves credit for the huge upset.

Its not that credit isnt due, it is. But also I am seeing too many people get overexcited and thinking that this victory would translate into him performing equally well against PBF and I dont see that as PBF and Oscar are too different and the same advantages dont translate over against a different fighter.

though calling pac top 20 atg is a lil bit absurd right now in this point of his career.

why does my previous post need to be researched before being said? while what i'm trying to say is that few poster already ranking pac a top 20 atg, which i think is absurd, maybe ur here long enough but dyou really rate pac that high? or you are misunderstood?..

why is there so much fuss about giving him credit. pac just beat dela hoya. this is oscar de la hoya we are talking about. not some journeyman with 15 losses.

35 or not, even weight drained, this guy can still rock you. in fact i am willing to bet that de la hoya can still go back to 154 and fight a couple of decent fights. while i agree that he might have botched his weight training, people should not lose sight of the fighter he is. or even was.

for those who keep on saying that odlh is shot. why don't you stick your chin out and give oscar one punch against your steady head. lets see if he is shot or not.

jesus. i can't believe there are so many haters around here.

Pac deserves all the credit he's gotten and will get. DLH deserves all the criticism he will get for this stinker. It was total domination. Each round was a carbon copy of the previous one.

Very similar to Vitali-Peter with one man just completely outclassing their stationary and lifeless opponent. But at least Peter quit against a massive punching hw. :yep

not me. Oscar was thought to blitz through Pacman. Pacman neutralized him and stopped him. And Forbes was not a pushover and Oscar still beat him. I am not sure the age hurt Oscar as much as the inactivity. An example from my favorite era is that Hagler fought Hearns in April of 1985. He had been active all the way up to Hearns and he looked sharp, having stopped Hamsho in three just a few months before Hearns. After the Hearns bout, Marvin took a year off and looked slow with Mugabi and soft. Then he took another year off and fought Leonard and looked a little like Oscar and couldn't pull the trigger. I think the not pulling the triggerwith punches is more inactivity than age, and usually when guys get older they are more inactive because they are not as motivated. Boxing is precise, and to be sharp in a sport boxing you have to get the rounds in with a real fight. That is why Chavez always fought so well, he was always fighting tuneups. Hagler for Hearns was sharp. After that he looked slow and this coincided with not fighting for a year at a time after Tommy. I think that was Oscar's downfall. But now he took a beating and his confidence is bruised. It will be hard to get it all back. He will have to rest for this beating and then make up a good excuse in his mind why he lost and that could be inactivity. Then he should get active and fight 3-4 times in a year and fight someone like Cotto. That is all I can think.. I rambled here. But the original post was should Pacman get the credit. Yes. Absolutely.

By the way, when I say Oscar should fight 3-4 times I mean soft touches. Then he should fight in his 5th fight a Cotto caliber when he can pull the trigger. I just do not think that is age related as much as inactivity. Oscar was too much of a safety first fighter to have much damage to make him washed up the way he looked Saturday. He just took the sport for granted thinking he could be inactive and still win big fights. Ray Leonard did that and he lost to Norris in similar fashion. You have to be active in this sport.

The TS has quickly forgotten that 98 out 100 boxing writers has thought Hoya would win this fight easily. How easily people forget. Pac deserves all the credit that he is getting right now whether it's too much or not.
