I want you guys to really take your emotions out of this and just try to be objective with what I’m about to say. People really don’t understand boxing. They judge fights as if the fight is ONE BIG 36 minute fight. It’s not like that. It’s the totality of 12 separate 3 minute rounds.

The reason why I bring this up is this: if I raced you 12 times in a 100 meter sprint. If you beat me by 10 meters in 5 of the races and I beat you by 2 inches in 7 of the races, I still won more races than you. Marquez won the rounds he won, more clearly and dominant, I agree with that totally. The rounds Manny won were more out-hustle rounds than dominant rounds. But nevertheless he won them.

I think this is why everyone is so outraged. I remember the same thing with Jermain Taylor-Bernard Hopkins I. Hopkins won his rounds more clear, but he won less of them in my opinion, where as Taylor kind of outhustled him.

Guys, I’m not trying to sway anybody but think about what I’m saying. In a fight with NO 10-8 rounds or knockdowns all of the rounds are scored 10-9. Don’t look at who won each round more dominantly, look at who won more of the rounds. I think Manny won more rounds.

 

Yep, and here's another point. Pacquiao's flurries are so fast, it's hard to tell what lands solid and what doesn't, in real time. A guy sitting at ringside is gonna find it hard to tell if it was a proper scoring shot, and even moreso if he's at a bad angle to see it etc. People just see a blur of hands and think 'woah, that was impressive'. But if they don't land or just graze, they're not a scoring shot. It's only when you watch things back, and slow it down do you realise exactly how many punches he misses.

Now, if they had guys in a booth watching back (and scoring) the 1st round while the second was taking place, and so on through the fight.. then it might mean something.

Anything else is just poor judging or emotion inspired scoring. Too many people are giving JMM rounds because he came close or tried hard, sorry but to win a round you have to actually win it.

Yeah, that's another thing.. there's been about 4 polls on this already. Every one of them had the fight to JMM by 60-80%, depending on the poll. Considering that PACQUAIO fans far outnumber any other fighter's fans on this website, isn't that saying all that needs to be said? Seems like there's a hardcore group there that just won't accept it.

Watched it on mute. It's a close round. Thought that uppercut right landed initially but appeared to hit gloves. Still, Marquez has some decent body-work. Pac's missing a lot, a few jabs to the body. Marquez with a few jabs to the head. It's very even, and then Pac lands the right hook, which probably was the most significant blow of the round. I wouldn't argue with a 10-9 score either way. I guess a 10-10 is possible.

I still think hitting gloves, or partially landing is better than whiffing air.

 

I called it 7-5.
