It looked like Cotto would've definitely won regardless of the injury so I'm not trying to take anything away from him, but I'd also say that Yuri's mobility is his best attribute as a fighter, so it was a much bigger problem for him than it would be for some flat-footed banger, you know. I'm just saying.
Yuri's wife definitely knew what's up when she saw him go down, she didn't have the look of 'omg what happened' but more of 'oh no it happened again, he's done'. Honestly, Foreman's mobility is his greatest asset but it was hurting him more then helping him in this fight. Hope he's Ok and comes back with an inside game.
I've torn my ACL before, and the injury and subsequent pain looked very familiar to me. Also think it was ligament damage.
If the injury hadnt happened, it would be a clear wide UD for Cotto or late stoppage, 11-12. Cotto did what he always does against lower level opponents, break them down slowly in route to a stoppage.
Maybe if he'd won every single round until the injury happened, but even then I think Cotto would have knocked him out. He showed a lot of guts in the fight but he would have lost without the injury, albeit probably on points instead.
What was the deal with the towel being thrown in, in the 8th round? I had to watch it with the volume turned down at work... Somebody from the crowd I take it?
The Foreman corner throw the towel, the ref asked them twice who throw the towle, Joe Grier said twice"I did it" and than Mercante shamelessly lied he didnt know who throw the towel
^You serious!?! WTF!? So Foreman's corner was denied the stoppage? Nevermind. I just saw the new thread...
no, the oppsite. the foreman corner said they did it, nobody was denying. mercante was just make it up to look better
