Bowe was one of the biggest wastes of talent heavyweight boxing has ever seen.

Know way can Bowe be considered over Lewis. In fact Bowe couldnt be considered over Wlad.

Since when was Bowes chin steal? He was steered clear of the biggest hitters in the division, retired by average hitting Golota, hurt by Hide and dropped by Holyfield.

Since when was Bowe a monster hitter to dent chins anyway? He had good but not fearsome power

If were judging chins and their crackability Lewis took shots from far bigger punchers prevailing and had far more power.

It's quite simple. There was a four man tournament. Lewis versus Ruddock and Bowe versus Holyfield. The winners were expected to fight. When Bowe saw what Lewis did to Ruddock (A fighter who had two good fights with Tyson) he threw his belt into the garbage. Politics had nothing to do with it, fear did. Bowe wanted no part of Lewis.

At that point in time Lewis had not been KOed. So the glass jawed theory had nothing to do with it.

I did before; but over time you have to rank Lewis over Bowe.

They were not just expected to fight, they signed a contract to fight.

Hell, the condition for Bowe to be able to fight Holyfield was that he'd fight the winner of Ruddock-Lewis right afterward. When he got the win and saw Lewis blow Ruddock out, he didn't bother to deliver his side of the deal.

It's seven years since Lewis has lost a fight, he's starting to get depressed.

Thanks for that. I thought there was a contract but I wasn't 100% sure.

When you say you did before, do you mean when they were both active and and doing well in their careers?

I can't speak for him, but i'm going to do so anyway.

Bowe barely faced any big, skilled punchers during his career. Hide was a big hitter (and had Bowe out on his feet), but missed a lot of other tools (say, a chin) to capacitate on it.

Other than that, what puncher's did he face? None really.

So, the fact that good but not spectacular punchers like Holyfield and Golota dropped him might be an indication of what would happen had he fought Ruddock, Bruno, Morrison, Tua, Klitschko, Tyson, Mason, Briggs, Grant, etc.
Especially considering the fact that even journeymen had a 50+% connect ratio against him.

I'm not saying Holyfield can't crack, but Holyfield never dropped Lewis in 2 fights, and he's rarely brought up as puncher faced by Lewis. Holyfield was closer to his prime when he fought Bowe the first two times, but his punching power seemed to increase from somewhere 1995, at cost of his workrate. It was only after that when he dropped Mercer, Bowe and Tyson (the latter only two years before he fought Lewis).
