Does anyone here think that Floyd's personal problems come from his fear of Pacquiao?

The more I think about it the more Pacquaio seems like cryptonite to Floyd. Not necessarily as a fighter, but as a person. Manny wouldn't rise to Floyd's mind games and ranting, and is probably too busy to be any more than vaguely aware of the Mayweather's frequent accusations. Almost like a school bully being wary of the quiet kid who will kick his ass if he takes it too far. So in response to the thread, yea I think Manny must frustrate the hell out of Floyd

Floyd doesn't care. Money is his only concern. Right now he's still a millionaire 100s of times over. More likely his personal problems stem from his breakup with Ellerbe.

If that was true, he'd have fought Pac last year and smashed every PPV and financial record in the book. :deal

Yeah, if he needed it. He pulled in 50 million from the Mosley and Marquez fights. That should give him the freedom to "make it rain" in the clubs for a while yet.

That doesn't add up. If all he was interested in was 'Money', he wouldn't be content to sit on a wad of cash when he knew that bigger money was readily available, he'd have gone chasing the biggest payday in history.

Not when he had to share the ring with a monster like Pac to do it. The risk far outweighs the reward. He made more money in safer fights with Marquez and Mosley and is happy with that.

Exactly. Therefore, his only concern is not money, is it?

If his only concern was money and nothing else, he would do anything for big money.

But he clearly is concerned with Pacquiao, concerned with the stigma of losing, concerned with his own vulnerability, etc etc etc.

They said the same thing about Ali leading up to him fighting Foreman. Foreman destroyed Frazier and other guys better than Ali

I really do wonder, not if.. but WHEN Pac finally destroys Floyd, what would become of Floyd? Floyd is holding on to that undefeated record like his life depends on it.

Pac has tasted defeat three times and now he's considered the best in the sport. Pac comes in to every fight knowing he could lose and since he has seen defeat before, he has nothing to lose. That's why Pac is so dangerous in the ring. I remember watching a Pac interview when he was asked, what would happen if you lose all your money, your fame, when you retire? He answered with a smile saying he's doing all these for his kids. he wanted them to have a very good life. He is going in the ring fighting knowing that it could physically and mentally change is life forever for the sake of his family. He doesn't want his children to go through the life struggles he went through when he was growing up. He also said, he doesn't mind experiencing poverty again BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN THERE ALREADY. It won't bother him.

He won't do anything for money. He didn't do the rematch with Oscar for money bc Oscar was wanting the bigger piece of the money even though he lost to Floyd. HBO, Haymon and everyone else wanted him to take the fight anyway bc he still would have made over 20 million and he didn't bow down to Oscar.

He fights for money, so naturally he will favor the 'easy money' fights. But you're right, he is concerned about keeping his 'O' aswell, as without it it will be impossible for him to put down other fighters for their losses and prop himself up as one of the GOATs. I'll say his major concern is money then, how's that?
