Holmes is great, I rate him over Ali anyday, better fighter, better man. I think Holmes, Foreman, Frazier, maybe that order.

  2. yes it is because past prime frazier dominated holmes always in every sparring session and he broke to holmes 2 ribs. joe frazier and marciano had the perfect style to defeat larry holmes.

Isn't Holmes in the top 5 in just about every all-time HW-list made nowadays? How is that being underrated?

I certainly think Holmes gets his dues. Most, like me, seem to have him in their top 5 or top 3 HWs. I don't think you can really ask for more.

One thing I like to know is how many top 10 ranked contenders he defeated. Anyone have a number?

Hm, many guys on here have him in their Top5 at hw, most even I think. So, I have to say, I disagree with the TS. He certainly isn´t underappreciated on here.

  10. larry holmes is not top 5,

i have ali, louis, marciano, foreman, jonhson, and maybe also frazier and holyfield above him

As has already been mentioned,Holmes has never been underrated on this forum. Most of us would rate him in our all time top 5 heavies. I have him at number 3.

I agree that Holmes isn't underappreciated in the Classic, but he certainly is in the General, I recall Vitali being favoured to beat him in a H2H poll & many voted for Vitali by KO/TKO. :nut

Also, in the General, the Vitali-fanboys often refer to Larry's opponents as "bums", before going on to praise Vitali's disgraceful competition.

    Personally I rate Holmes:

    At #4 for Heavyweight Greatness.
    At #5 for Peak H2H.

I like those guys. Making all the hard work for me. Sure, I don't mind quoting stats, but putting them together... My time is all too precious for that (oh, the Simpson re-run just might have started already).

Es tut mir leid Kamerad, ich reichlich eigene Marke Zucker Niko's Wodka getrunken, so war ich zu betrunken, um eine intelligente Antwort zu geben.
