does anyone honestly doubt that technical skills have gotten worse in boxing?

It's hilarious that you say 'come the **** on' while you're saying the stupidest **** imaginable.

Yeah... I see so many 'fat' guys in boxing today :-(

I think it's more a case of naturally gifted, aggressive, unpredictable punchers have been dominating over technically sound boxers lately. Or maybe it's just the exciting punchers with high KO% are getting all the spotlight and big fights over technically sound fighters.

It mostly has to do with attention spans of paying customers. MMA is great for this generation because of the cheap thrills of 2 toughman getting into windmill, eyes closed exchanges and you get to see a vicious KO. Its creeping into boxing as well. People can relate more to checkers more so than chess hence all the fighters who lack solid technical skills and stragedy. The main culprit of this fad is Manny Pacquiao who looks best when his opponent exchanges with him. If not you got Pac/Clottey where he lands 20% of his punches.

Ok lets use one example to see if your right about todays fighters being better and improved.

Who do you pick to win out of,

The Middleweight Champion of the 80's, Marvin Hagler against today's champion Sergio Martinez ?

But the scene has deteriorated, I mean besides, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Marquez and Hopkins, todays overall talent pool is just not that great.

Number one, the 80's aren't exactly the 'old days' unless you're 13 years old. Hagler is a very modern fighter.

#2, Martinez is a weak champion.

He has no point. Were people wearing top hats in the 80's, driving horse-drawn carriages? Was Jim Jeffries the HW champ in the 80's?

    Don't be ******ed.

So what era in the past do you think is inferior to the present, just so I know which era to use, so I can present a example match up for you.

No they don't, every one of these fighters world class careers spanned parts of the 80's, so that means they were schooled as young amatures in the late 70's and early 80's.
