Does anyone in here have knowledge on tranferring 1/2" video tape reels to DVD?

I have thirteen reels of this with tons of amateur boxing footage on it from Nick Wells, Larry Holmes,Duane Bobick, Sugar Ray Leonard , Jesse Valdez and lord knows who else. Reason I ask is that a local University has approached me about making a documentary on my father and we would like to get this footage converted as soon as possible. Thanks so much.

There is software available for playing VHS tapes into a PC from which you could burn them to DVD. I don't have any experience with it, though, so cannot comment on how good it is.

You could have it done professionally. iMemories.com does a good job - for $10 they will convert a VHS tape to digital format and for another $10 burn to a two hour DVD. They can also dump the digitally-transformed data to a flash drive, or hard drive, depending on how much is there. You might want to check out their home page, prices, etc. to see if it fits your needs. They do good work and their customer service hotline is very friendly and helpful.

I just had a similar thread to this deleted so if it disappears you know why.
