    Not true, he fought in the amateurs for 3-4 years. He beat Dokiwari twice in Nigeria, then a couple of Golden Gloves in the States.

    Herbie Hide was barely 18 yrs old [very unusually for a HW by today's standards - tho, whilst a smallish HW even by the standards of his time, I think he reached his full physical stature very young] when he turned pro, so had no real amateur career to speak of.
