Does anyone know what Beterbiev is mumbling to himself before his matches?

    He seems to do this in every fight. Has he ever been questioned about it? I'm very curious.

    I dont know but probably some muslim prayer. I read in a local paper here that the guy is extremely religious. They we're saying that on Fridays around noon even his promoter or coach cant contact him cuz he's at the mosque and he dont answer. It could be anything he doesnt care.

    He's Muslim? Interesting. I thought Catholicism was the dominant religion where he was from or am I way off on that?

    Noooooooooo, you're way off, he's from Dagestan which is near Chechnya, the whole region around the Caucasus and the Caspian is pretty hardcore Muslim.

    I Googled it right after I typed that. Lol, I was wrong about both where he was from and what was generally practiced where I thought he was from. That's interesting.

    This whole time I assumed it was some crazy gimmick he had.

    And since when Catholicism is the dominant religion in E E ?

    Most of E E are Christian Orthodox. Like Kova or Usyk.
    Usyk seems pretty religious too considering the t-shirt he wore in the ring for the Glowacki fight

    I'm speculating here, but I'm pretty sure that's where a lot of the animosity comes from between him and Kovalev. Russia and Chechnya/Dagestan hate each other more than Russia and Ukraine.

    Yeah I was completely wrong about that. Honestly I always get religions mixed up since I'm not that religious myself.

    The Crimean region is mostly Russian they side with Russia, the rest of Ukraine is usually pro-West.
