Does anyone know why Dmitry Bivol has been suspended...

Perhaps it's just an error by BoxRec?

 

If you go on most fighters, they will have been suspended. It’s like in the UFC, fighters get medical suspensions

 

I suspect it'll be a mandatory suspension probably like 90 days or something

 

I don't understand... fight barrera vs Bivol ?

If it was a mistake. Boxrec would have erased it. But still there.

 

There's a problem with BoxRec, from what I could see before they disabled guest access (probably while they fix the problem), all fighters who had a fight where the New York State Athletic Commission was involved has:

"suspended by New York State Athletic Commission indefinitely"

On their profile. Off the top of my head have a look at the following profiles:

Miller
Wilder
Ortiz
Stiverne
Washington

Everyone on boxrec has multiple suspensions for some reason. Lomachenko is suspended right now by New York too. Seriously, everyone. Gonzalez has a suspension from California.

As of last week there used to be a little list above the fight list on the left below the picture that showed their history of suspensions and everyone had eight or nine. Guys you never heard anything about. Not sure what's up with that.

It says Donaire's been suspended in Texas and Nevada. Luis Nery suspended by California. Alvarez suspended by Nevada (everyone knows that one). Danny Garcia in Nevada. Shawn Porter in New York. Oscar Valdez in California. Wilder by New York. Lara by Nevada.

 

Medical suspensions.

 

if you are knocked down you are "suspended" it just means you cant return for 3 months. if you have a cut or take a little bit of punishment you are suspended meaning you can't take a fight for a short time. a canadian propsect had a fight vs a club fighter and then had another fight a month later, he was cut in his fight and they denied his fight for 4-5 weeks later. it's nothing.

 

Loma is suspended as well.

 

Don't worry about every chintzy suspension listed on BoxRec, 99% of them affect literally nothing.

 

Really weird. Fighters only get suspended if they get KO'd or suffer a concussion. Bivol had neither.

 

I'd say this definitively shows it's just some error/nonissue.

All those fighters still have that same indication on their BoxRec pages.
