It wasn't love at first sight for me.But as time went on and i started giving Nas the time of day,i've grown to love that flamboyant out of the ordinary style and ring entrances you can only get from the prince. IMO there will never be another Prince Naseem Hamed. He may not have been the best, but he was definitely one of the best featherweights of his time.He loved to entertain, and entertain he did and did very well.
I surely do,i miss his ring entrances, his outrageous personality, his over the top trash talking, his awkward and unique style, him knocking guys out silly with one shot etc.theres never be one like him since. A 24/7 with him would be must see TV and with the help of the show he would probably be the biggest star in boxing if he was fighting today.
Miss him big time, the cocky talk, the entrances, the outrageous style, the Knockouts, there will never be another Naz,he had a good career but he should have had a better one..
I miss him too. It's such a shame he lost the love for the sport towards the latter part of his career. It's incredible when you think about it, he practically retired at the age of 27! He really was supposed to go on and become something special, but instead left so many blank pages behind. I guess guys like that with their explosiveness, only have short careers. Not to mention he had great character. Unique. Something we will never see again
Same, I used to hate him, but then I learned to love the comic arrogance. It no longer bothers me when a fighter is arrogant and self assured, as long as they are funny doing it. Plus, Naz backed it up. For all we know, the Barrera fight could've been a bad night. I'm not saying Barrera didn't deserve the win or anything, but just that Naseem came unprepared for Barrera to box rather than exchange, and couldn't adjust. I think if Naz had the resolve for a rematch, he could've pulled out a win with a better gameplan. Maybe, maybe not, but it would've been interesting to see Prince Naseem continue to compete at that level. I think its a shame he let that one loss tarnish his legacy, he was actually a good fighter.
Of course the Prince was a one of a kind fighter who brought a lot of attention to the lower weights. He's one of my favorite fighters of all time.
the build up programme to the barrera fight 'little prince big fight' is awesome. miss naz alot, always great entertainment
The Hair cut scene alone makes it worth a watch. Classic Prince right there. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClZkyV-boQM[/ame]
