Does anyone else out there prefer the old 15 round fights?

I have always thought that 15 was the perfect number of rounds for a fight to go. If you wanted to sit down and plan to watch a championship fight 1 hour seems like the perfect amount of time it should last.

The fact that it was also an uneven number i always found appealing I know that draws were just as common back then but I think that making championship fights and even number of rounds was a mistake.

Also I'm sure some will argue that injuries were more common back then, but I would say that since it is only championship caliber fighter fighting at this distance it really shouldn't be a problem.

    does anyone else agree?

I'm not sure...it would just give the 'championship caliber' boxers an excuse to fight just once a year.

On the other hand though...15 rounds requires a lot more physical and mental strength, so boxers would be tested a lot more than they are today. It definitely would show how great these modern day "greats" are...

    I agree!

I also think a lot of different outcomes would have happened in certain fights had there still been 15 rounds

Based on todays fighter i would have to say 12 because they take long enough between fights nowadays and if they were havin 15 rounds a fight, then i think they would even take longer between fights.

12 is fine. What I really want to see is more fights per year!

On the other hand imagine watching klitschko fights for 15 rounds, they annoy me alot in 12 round fights, i think i would smash my remote after 15.

Health issues, boxers doing 15 rounds of punishment had resulted in dramatic endings...

I wanted to say that too but then again, it won 't change a thing for a klitschko fight because they score a KO around the 10th in most cases, so I give them the benefit of the doubt :good

IMO, the 15 rounders get over romanticized sometimes.

Alot of those fights involved much more Ruiz-style grappling/holding (especially at the higher weights) and more lulls in action fighters tried to keep something in the tank.
