Does anyone realize Martinez took the P.W. fight on short notice!

He was a last minute replacement and got maybe 3 weeks to train and was not at his best yet he beat Williams' ass and was ****ed on the score cards.

Imagine what the Sergio Martinez of last night would have done to Williams. Quintanna beat that ass once & and trust me when I tell you Martinez has PW'S number, provided of course that we can get a decision in this Country.

I think the style differences of Williams and Pavlik were more of a defining factor in the outcomes than the short three weeks notice. I have heard that Martinez is always in decent shape between fights anyway.

decent shape is still not tip top shape to fight a guy who throws 100 combos a rd who is long as **** and a top fighter....so please....wake up and smell the coffee

PS and the mother****er still lost regardless of any bogus decision the fans know it and so should you.

No doubt,if a rematch happens Martinez will leave no doubt about who's the better fighter.

True, but to be fair Williams had a bit of a disadvantage aswell in training for Pavlik and then having to change and prepare for a completely different style at a different weight in 3 weeks. Still Martinez most probably had a bigger disadvantage, and I felt he won by a point, although I won't argue with anybody picking Williams by a similarly close margin or a draw.

He fought Williams AND moved up in weight in a single short camp, and still won on my card. But that's the past, Maravilla is the WBC Light Middleweight Champion and the Undisputed Lineal World Middleweight Champion, a class act who's hard work and dedication finally paid off - bigtime!

    More Maravillas please!

martinez said he been in the gym and he was more than ready for the williams fight

williams on the other hand had been sparring with pavlik like fighters for MONTHS!

then a cpl weeks later had to switch to south paws.... it goes both ways

However you scored the first go around, it was still a hell of a fight. And now? There's a damn good chance the next go around will have both guys 100% ready to fight each other with the lineal middleweight championship and 2 straps on the line.

Even though he didn't get the W against Williams, it's impossible for me to say things didn't work out for the best for both Martinez and the prospect of a Martinez-Williams rematch in the long run. The stakes of the rematch just got a hell of a lot higher with Sergio's performance last night and the titles involved.

That's true dude. Williams may give him a tougher fight because he'd be more prepared but I still see a Martinez win in a rematch.

Trust me on this one ...Martinez is a good fighter but believe me he wants no part of Williams again.....Im almost sure that he will stop Martinez if they fight again...Kelly was way too slow for Martinez.

Man, I gat to tell ya, either way... Maravilla is really wonderful or Pavlik is having a serious mental break/block. Big, I mean BIG upset and shock 4 me.
