Gallo was good but The Ring and I think Boxing Illustrated had an excellent cartoonist in the 80's and 90's if memory serves me right. I got a ton of old boxing mags...just too lazy to look for the name of the artist. Any help?
No, don't think that's the one. I thought the name was Charlie McGill, but when I googled it, came up empty.
Alphonse Normandia, Bill Gallo and Charlie McGill were doing that for Boxing Ill. back then. I knew Gallo and McGill very well, in fact McGill drew my stepson when he won the Athletic of the Week, for wrestling, in Bergen County (New Jersey) for the Bergen Record. They both came to several of my dinners for the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame and Ring 8.
...i recall stanley weston from back to the earlier days....in ring but i don't remember him in boxing illustrated. for the ring he often did covers and inside illustrations and occasional articles to go with them.
ted carroll...dammit, that's the one i was rally thinking of when i mentioned stanley westen.....carroll ws my favorite....more of an illustrator than a cartoonist.....
