    Hi,

I was just wondering does anyone remember a great Flyweight Boxer called Jimmy Wilde from Wales? I realise he was around a long time ago but his record was incredible and many boxing experts believe that Jimmy was the best Flyweight in history. Does anyone agree? And what are your thoughts about Jimmy Wilde - The ghost with the hammer in his hand.

I'm from and live in Wales, so yeah I know all about Jimmy Wilde! :D

An exceptional boxer, and possibly one of the greatest flyweights of all time.

Plus he is always good ammo when people call Joe the best fighter Wales has ever produced!

Didn't he fight in Thailand and due to a heavily soaked ring have to fight barefoot?

Yeah, people tend to forget that Wales has had another great champion.I read in the ring, that they had him as one of the best punchers of all time,I think he was around 7 on the list. That says a lot about a small man like him.:thumbsup

I read about him when I was younger -- far too young to remember him personally, but my Dad's side of the family are from down there.

Hell of a fighter, apparently. Record was 152 bouts, 137 wins, 4 losses, 2 draws, 8 no contests. With 100 KOs. That record stacks up against anyone.

Disgustingly underrated. His name should be near the top of the British boxers ATG list.

Makes Calzaghe/Hamed look like total jokes.

with out a shadow of a doubt he's the greatest flyweight in history. massive puncher for one so small, and pale as hell. they didn't call him the ghost with a hammer for nothing. he's also appeared in the top ten greatest fighters of all time for many boxing historien's.

Yea this lil hellraiser was known to ko heavyweights of his time. Was mocked for having chicken legs. Dont remember, but in the issue of the ring I had also had him down as "The Mighty Atom" or something like that besides "The Ghost with the Hammer in his Hands". How ****ing awesome of a nickname is that?
