This... He was a big name in a very competitive British scene at the time . These days with the right contacts you could see him fighting for a version of a world title. Back then he was high profile British , Euro level but that was a well contested grade to be fighting at back then. He was going along nicely until the unexpected defeat to Drayton then having got back on track he lost a very high profile British and Commonwealth fight to Tony Sibson in a tough fight that was close on points . Back on winning ways again till being stoped by Herol Graham in 8. Coming up short against Sibson and Graham showed where his level was . Back then there was real depth in that division at domestic level. With fights on terrestrial TV fighters could get good paydays by being at the top end of the British/ Commonwealth/ European/ grade.
Just watched some of his fights on the back if this thread . He always seemed to be in wars. He wasnt as successful as I remember. He won the British and Commonwealth titles but after that he lost all his big fights ( 5 times for the European title) . The Errol Christie fight was actually only a British title eliminator. Lost to Sibson and Herol Graham in fights that had he won , may have got him a world title shot. Cant find his fight v Graham on utube which is a shame. He retired then came back again but not with Terry Lawless, I never knew that . I read they fell out but not sure what about . He retired at 27 then again at 30. He peaked around 25 having already had over 30 fights ..scary ! He was very busy . Always seemed to be in scraps. He was very tall for a middleweight.
