I don’t believe Wilder has a better resume than Povetkin. Povetkin’s defeated Chagaev, Takam, Perez, Chambers, Byrd, Huck (the last dominant cruiser til Usyk), and fought competitive bouts with Wlad and Joshua. Wilder has Ortiz, Stiverne, and a dubious draw with Fury. I won’t argue your points on you see the fight playing out. But I disagree on your resume assessment
Except Wilder's handlers didn't make Povetkin fail a drug test now did they? I said this back then and I say it now Wilder would have brutally koed Povetkin and just like I said years ago that Fury would beat Wilder.
Only he didn’t fail. He tested positive for an allowable limit when all was said and done. Only thing was instead of waiting for the WBC which sanctioned the fight, to make their ruling Wilder and his team flew home from England immediately without even entering the city of the fight. Forcing the cancellation themselves not the organizing body in charge. They didn’t want it.
Povetkin was banned by the WBC for failing a drug test. Wilder signed to fight him but he was dirty. This is the same type of dumb **** people said about Wilder-Fury when it was first announced that Wilder would find away to get out of the fight. Wilder wasn't scared of Povetkin and had there been no positive test the fight would have happened.
He wasn’t banned until he tested for a smarm for his fight with Stiverne. Wilder’s team forced the cancellation of the fight by flying home immediately before the wbc could officially rule on anything. For the record I never thought Wilder was looking to get out of the Fury fight. I thought they believed he could beat him as did I, boy were we wrong.
I picked Fury to beat Wilder. With that said Wilder wasn't scared of Povetkin I heard he would pull out of the fight with Ortiz as well.
Povetkin over 3 years later at nearly 40 was still able to cause Joshua some problems for 6 rounds and was ahead on any reasonable persons card when he was stopped. He would have iced Wilder.
