Does anyone still think Burns beats Broner after tonight?

Last night doesn't really change my opinion on the fight as Broner has a totally different style and would be easier for Burns to prepare for in a sense as they at least know exactly what they are dealing with, Gonzalez there seemed to be very little footage to work with and know exactly what you would be dealing with.

I think Broner would beat Burns in a competitive bout, probably a 116-112 sort of decision fight, with Burns causing him some issues. I still believe this would be the case

Have yet to see Broner really troubled yet, except Rees who ate a lot of shots to land a few.

If I was guiding Ricky I'd actually avoid that fight (for now) in favour of: Abril or Vasquez, who are both extremely good, if he beats one of those then possibly go for Broner...

Lol still retains a world title after an admittedly poor performance and he should retire? Can't believe the amount of morons on here

 I think Icemax was being sarcastic there if I know him well enough. Anyway, I didn't see the fight last night but have always felt Broner beats Burns. I rate Broner highly, and I know some think he's over-hyped, but even if that's the case surely Burns is too basic to really trouble him. I'd like him to win though, 'cause he has to be THE nicest guy in boxing. A lot of fighters give it the whole "yeah i'm just a down to earth lad me, just wanna put food on the table for me kids me" and tbh it's just cringe as ****. Burns is genuinely a good guy. Credit to the sport.

Everyone associated with Ricky Burns needs to have a word with themselves.

How can you go into a world title fight blind? They must have been able to get some footage of him from somehwere?

    There's enough clips on YouTube.

The Burns camp didn't seem to have a clue about Gonzales and this is a world title fight... Really poor preparation all round

I think they did have a clue and just couldn't deal. Nothing will ever convince me that these fighters (Floyd, Team Donaire, Team Burns, etc.) don't watch/analyze tape extensively. There's millions of dollars on the line. Most amateur coaches and fighters use every clip they can find for everything it's worth (and go out of their way to keep their fighters videos private), and there's not really anything but bragging rights on the line at the lower amateur levels.

And even after three round you could think Bruns might adapt to Chello.
Burns just fought against a fighter with better talent thats all. Lucky that this fighter had no stamina/heart and never fought at world level before. If Gonzalez had more fights at higher level I believe he would have won that fight.
But Burns is really a great boxer. You have to give him credit for this win... but I dont think he wins against the other champions. Especially Hearns should stay away from Abril. Abril would school Burns in a boring ass fight.

I admit i underestimated Gonzalez because he fought nobody, but he was class. If Gonzalez had the conditioning and heart he would have beat Burns.

Like Burns, Broner has flaws , i still think Burns troubles him, beat him im not so sure.

If this theme continues then Broner will win for being too slick, too black and too American.

I'm not seeing what others are in saying that Gonzalez & Broner's styles are nothing alike. I think there's some aspects of Gonzalez's work which were very similar to Broner's and which undoubtedly troubled Ricky. I can see the OP's reasoning in looking for similarities between last night and a potential Broner-Burns fight.

Saying that, no 2 fights are the same so you can't be sure how that fight would go. I fancied Burns over Broner based off him working behind his jab and moving laterally- however, if he fought like last night again, I'd be pretty sure that Broner would wipe the floor with him. He looked really poor

Broner and Gonzalez are both pretty good counter punchers. But Broner being a lot faster with more power and accuracy. Broner is also much bigger than Gonzalez. Just look at Broner fighting now at Welterweight. At the end Burns-Broner wont happen anyway. Burns had his chance its over now.

Gonzalez probably the more talented, and the harder puncher,I think. But thats not everything.Ricky showed his chin, his guts and determination, which were superior. And he won the fight.Wouldnt recommend Broner,I really think he's gonna be like his mate.Love to see Malinaggi top him,but can't see it.Plenty of people around this weight.McGuigan never fought Nelson either.
