Does anyone think Manny Pacquiao is a unskilled brawler?

He's not a brawler. He's a very skilled boxer-puncher with lots of athletic gifts that compliment an awkward but effective style, who can only be nullified or challenged by the elite skill-sets of other ATG contemporaries.

 

The unskilled fighter actually went technical with a great tactician and did not do poorly.

Pac's technical prowess is underrated. Watch the Cotto fight. That was a technical masterclass of sorts...so was the Hatton fight, if you consider precision timing a technical skill, which I do.

hes definitely not a text book boxer but i dont know if id label him as a brawler

he is unorthodox and doesnt box like anybody ive really seen before

hes like Calzaghe or Hamed or Augustus where they just have this crazy style that is far from what the others are doing and looks wrong or bad

but Manny for a lot of flaws and text book mistakes lands at a high percentage does not get hit very much

won titles at many weights and continues to perfect his craft a little

i think he picked up a few bogus titles and kinda cherry picked a little bit but he is not unskilled

i could not see many ppl mimic him and be good

 

unskilled brawler? he fought marquez 3 times and the last two, he fought him technicallly and edge them all on my card. he played jmm's game and came out victorious officially even if he was stylistically disadvantaged. a brawler is like katisidis and even he has some form of skills.

 

he did not do too bad in maquez 2 and 3 either imo. people just expected him to smash right through marquez but it would not happen even in a 4th fight.

 

i didnt get how anybody expected Manny after the first bout to steam roll Marquez

 

2nd fight, becasue pac just steamrolled barrera while marquez had a hard time with him. 3rd fight because of how pac smashed most of the bigger WW. the truth is, jmm will always have this stylistic advanatge over pac. you would never see him overly aggressive against pac just like what does against any other opponents like casa, katisidis, juan diaz and even mayweather. jmm knows that's the only way to fight pacquiao and if he diverge from it, he would risk getting knock downed.

 

i saw Juan as way more skilled and a way better boxer than the welters

plus being a natural light weight or even 130 pounder he is quicker than welters and is accustomed to fast men like Manny

Cotto, Margarito Oscar Clottey just had no clue how to deal with Mannys speed
