Yup, he still got busted up, even though he didn't get hit as much in the first fight.

I honestly believe if they did not stop that fight Miguel would have been stopped again he ran out of gas in that last round held the entire round....

He was fading from 7 on.... in fact when they called time to fix loose tape take a close look at the tape, it was added in between rounds, the corner knew it would come loose and give Miguel a rest....

How do I know its fresh tape added? look at the tape during the introductions you clearly see the commissions sig on it.... there was no tape coming loose at all during the fight and suddenly they call time for loose tape that was clearly added between rounds.

Cotto knows deep down he was given the win, he didnt take it.

    This.

    ...and this.

There'll always be circumstantial evidence, but not the hard one (no pun intended).

Like others have said, it doesn't make sense that he would suddenly start cheating against a big underdog like Mosley. At the same time, it doesn't make sense that he could've gotten away with that under every other commission he was examined by. Did no one else check his gloves properly before fights?

Still, he is a total scumbag for even attempting to cheat once.

I would suggest that Cintrons trainer Stewart checked them, so did Williams people... there is no way he could have gone this long doing it with out getting caught...

Where I come from a man is presumed innocent until proven guilty (in a court of law)

The evidence in this case seems inconclusive as to his guilt or innocence.

We don't know (for sure) if Marg cheated, or not... nor do I wish to be the one to accuse someone of a crime... a crime that he MAY be innocent of committing .

By the way... I'm a Cotto fan and wish him well.

He didn't train well for Mosley and Capetillo tried to make up for it by giving him bricks. I don't think he had bricks in Cotto 1 else he would have been caught there too. Still a **** though.

The Mexican Margarito cheated, Mexicans are known steroid users in all of sports and they also cheat by using plaster in their hand wraps.

Of course he may have not used illegal wraps in Cotto 1. But the curiosity that he may have seems to be stronger. There are good arguments for both sides, and I honestly don't know. One thing most people forget (or ignore) is that after fighters get cut up and bruised up brutaly, it tends to happen more regularly. Cotto was not really known as someone who would cut and swell up easily until he just did after every fight since losing to Margo. Another thing to consider is, Cotto himself says he didn't really feel a difference in Margos punches.

It's an interesting topic that will be debated in boxing circles for a long time, but no clear answer will be agreed on (outside of a confession). As of right now it should be innocent until proven guilty... but it sure is suspicious.

If he attempted to use it against Mosley in a fight promoted as a tune-up, then he sure as hell will use it against a Puerto Rican rival in a fight promoted as his last shot at glory. Common sense.

You summed this up yourself perfectly when you put You believe he was guilty till proven innocent. Like all the others full of bull**** who claim Margarito cheated EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets see you prove it.
No one has yet Not even that lying POS Richardson that started all this. Not even the CSAC who "MISLAID" the only evidence they claimed to have ROFLMAO

Tony Margarito kicked Cotto's ass & made him quit on his knees LEGITIMATEL!!!! he was going to do it again till the crooked NY doc stopped the fight to save Cotto not Margarito.

Askk Manny Paquaio how hard Margarito punches ? He sent Pac man to the hospital after their fight.

Tony Margarito was railroaded He NEVER!!! cheated

I think in terms of the way Cotto approached the fight, e.g. going back to the ropes of his own accord in the early rounds and staying in the trenches far more than was necessary, it's apparent that he was setting himself up for a pretty hard fall, regardless of whether wraps were used. He was up against a bigger, stronger guy and at the pace that was set, it's likely he was going to fade at least to some extant in the latter portion of the fight.

    That said...

Even though he came into the second fight with a smarter game-plan, he was still getting tagged from time to time (Margo only landed two punches less per round over the first six rounds in the rematch than he did in the same portion of their first fight), yet didn't bust up Cotto nearly as badly...and certainly not in the early rounds like he did in the first fight Plus, in the second portion of the rematch, Cotto didn't seen nearly as affected by Margo's pressure or punches as did the first time around. People claim Margo was coming on...But Cotto was still out-landing Margo over the last two frames and actually pushing him back from time to time. So...I personally am always going to wonder if illegal wraps were used and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it were eventually revealed that Margo did.

And that's too bad if that were the case...because based on the way Cotto was fighting, Margo might have been able to pull out the come from behind stoppage without any controversy arising from the result.
