I don't think he has much of a chance. Some good points made by huki.

If Banks make it the distance I will be very very disappointed.

I dont think any set of whiskers is going to withstand miranda's right hand if he gets full extension and lands it right. Edison has great timing with it. He has some freakish power and I dont think banks can withstand that. Even though I have to admit banks does have skills (especially for teaching himself how to fight his whole life thats pretty outstanding). But he doesnt have the 'come forward' style to back edison up. And that is how you beat miranda, take the fight to him and make him try to use his feet which he really sucks at.

I was at the Contender finale live, about six rows back, and this was actually the best fight of the night prior to Bika-Codrington (although Banks got a few boos for his cutiepie tactics and playing up his ability to make McCrary miss) - I was definitely paying attention. He made Smith go life and death to barely eke out a decision. He was never seriously hurt. Did they show some edited version with music on tv?

Look at 2:53 and that was just one of the times he got hurt. Now keep in mind, Paul Smith is a very light puncher and a small SMW. Miranda's timing/accuracy, speed, and skills are nothing special, but they're a lot better than Smith's and when he hurts Banks he will most likely finish him very quickly. Miranda can also outbox Banks easily and that says a lot about how terrible Banks is. He will get caught early and finished early.

BTW, the odds for this match came up today on sportsbooks. The under 8.5 rounds is an amazing +130! Would you be able to put some of the FNF/Telefutura fights up on the vbookie again like last week?

I think you might be vastly overrating Miranda's power and effectiveness at SMW - TKO5 over Henry Porras doesn't have me convinced of jack****. I don't dislike Edison, either - and I bought (and still buy) his excuse that 160 was draining him in the Pavlik fight. However, I'm not prepared to say he's some monster puncher at the weight one fight later with no substantial evidence to support that. Until he does prove that, he is no more a legit SMW puncher than Smith.

    Where did you find odds?

I don't think I'm overrating Miranda's power at all. And sadly, I do believe Miranda's excuse a bit too, but would still favor Pavlik in a rematch at 168. Paul Smith hurt this guy, what makes you think a right hand from Miranda won't hurt him MUCH worse? One doesn't need to be a monster puncher to take Banks out, they just need to have average power and some skills.. Miranda has more than average power.

i disagree with you on the timing. I think edison's timing is excellent.

His timing is pretty good and will be more than good enough against Banks, who anybody can land clean punches on. But excellent timing to me means elite level timing, like Kessler has and Miranda is not on that level.

Yes and yes. Just because The Contender hyped him up as a puncher doesn't mean he is one. Look at his record and you'll see the facts. He's not featherfisted like Sergio Mora or David Banks, but he is a light puncher.. average at best if you want to be nice.

Did Paul not have the highest stats for punch power in the SPARQ test on the initial episode?

    I believe so
