Does anyone think that Derevyanchenko has a chance in beating GGG?

How do you guys see Derevychenko’s chances against GGG? Can he finally win a title against the aging GGG? He seems to be overlooked but I think he has a good chance in beating GGG. Always liked Sergiy’s textbook boxing style and skills.

There were rumors that an impressive performance is expected (by DAZN or maybe even there was some agreement with Canelo & GB that Golovkin needs to win decisively to get his chance for the third fight) from Golovkin.

Recently in an interview, Gvozdyk mentioned an interesting point. He said: "I've known Serg for a very long time, from his amateur days. He's very good at dealing with aggressive opponents, those who try to bully him. ... Of course, Golovkin is a monster but, in my opinion, Derevyanchenko has a good chance to beat him."

So, the best chance Derevyanchenko has is if Golovkin underestimates him and tries to make a "big drama show".

Lil G string doesnt put on a drama show unless he's fighting welterweights or part time bottom 50 ranked middleweights. We all know he will jab and dance to a SD then cry about the scorecards being close. Mexican style baby

I'll give you Rolls but I wouldn't rank Vanes that low. If you rate Vanes at 50, you'd have to rate a guy like Andrade lower too who didn't exactly run through Martirosyan. Ditto for Lara.

Derey doesn't have much of a chance IMO. He's a solid guy and I think he'll hang in there until the later rounds but ultimately he is a level or two below GGG. Unless GGG ages overnight, he should win.

My only concern is Derevyanchenkos durability or more importantly ability to take what GGG can dish out in one punch power.

I’m a big fan of Derevyanchenko, but Jacobs rattled him early and iirc most often he landed flush.

Just wondering where all the Derevyanchenko “fans” who claimed GGGducked him and would lose have gone?

Joe Frazier once said,," any man with two hands has got a chance" maybe not a good one in my opinion but I agree with that. I can't see this guy beating GGG but he 's no club fighter so …….

The thing about Derevyanchenko is that once he got through that early knockdown vs Jacobs he really started to settle into the fight and started having some success. But it took him a while to get Jacobs timing down. GGG isn't as fleet footed as Jacobs so for Derevyanchenko it may not take as long for him to settle in. Derevyanchenko seems pretty durable though so it'll be interesting to see if GGG can hurt him early on. The longer Derevyanchenko sticks around the more pressure GGG will be under to pace himself to go 12 hard rounds.

This has the ingredients to be a Hagler Hearns but something tells me GGG having learned something from his bouts with Canelo might come out and try to box more rather than trade, I could see GGG trying to be the matador and jabbing him from range off the backfoot like he tried to do in the Canelo rematch. I mean I could see Derevyanchenko taking a somewhat similar strategy to how Canelo fought GGG in the 2nd fight, by constantly coming forward like Derevyanchenko did vs Jacobs and trying to trap GGG and get around the jab. We know the kind of style that Derevyanchenko is going to do, he likes coming forward, GGG has to think long and hard about how he is going to approach Derevyanchenko. We seen two completely different styles from GGG in the two Canelo fights, GGG no longer expects to just knock people out like he was doing before fighting Jacobs and Canelo. Derevyanchenko might be a guy that he can't knock out, but maybe he can we will find out.

Of course Derevyanchenko has a chance. He might even have as much as a 30% chance of beating GGG. He's an excellent fighter and an aggressive one. Thing is though, Golovkin may be older but I think he's been more consistent. I didn't like what I saw with SD against Culcay. He struggled with Jacobs. I think that unless SD pulls out a rabbit from the hat (he might) or GGG ages overnight (he might) then Golovkin will keep him on the end of his jab and take him to pieces. He's not going to want to engage in too much close work with Sergey because SD can use those beautiful angles of his to mean effect. Expect a boxing lesson.

I think that this is how it will play out. Sure, Golovkin has the firepower to take SD on in a slugout ... but why? He's the better boxer at range and he likes countering guys, always has. That's why he was eager to get a chance to counter Canelo. I actually don't think Golovkin enjoyed chasing down Canelo in the first fight, which is where he was the guy walking into traps. Golovkin prefers setting traps.

    15 to 20% chance, I guess.
