Arce is more likely to win this fight prime/prime but you can't underestimate his motivation for this fight as a factor. Stylewise, a few things count against both fighters but for me it comes down initially in the fight to Vic's power vs Arce's chin. As the fight goes on it's the scenario may reverse (Vic could be drawn inside etc) but hopefully Vic's early sharpness of late limits the potency of Arce's power. There's no chance i'm missing out on some really juicy odds for Arce though....
THe question is then not how well he does the things he used to do, but how effective he is with the level of things he can do NOW against the likes of Mr. Darchiniyan.
He got a better chance of ktfo Vic than mijares cuz of the power ..IT's the hurt business. Arce must hurt Darchi early to get respect. And put a bit of doubt in Darched! he can't just maul him like he did the light punching Mijares and Kirilov or else ARce is in deep shite!!
'Agree with you Bone. Arce is a very live underdog who is very dangerous against a guy like Vic, because he has the power to take out VIC, and also has the chin to take some of his punches. Not only that, he is very competitive and is the typical macho brawler, so he may not be that easy to intimidate and scare off like some of Vic's other opponents. However, with that said, there is one big issue that I see in this match-up for Arce: Vic's speed. He will be faster than Arce which will make a big difference. The question is, can Arce neutralize Vic's speed by timing him and countering him effectively, especially to the body. If Arce gets some body work off on Vic early on, will it slow Vic enough to give Arce an opportunity to land more. This is an interesting match-up.
For Arce to have a chance to do anything he is going to have to smother Vic. Or get lucky catching him coming in. Vic is a southpaw..that left hook to the body could easily be countered with the straight left...I will say Vic straight left is going to defeat anything Arce has. Vic is also used to fighting that mexican style and destroying it.
:good Vic has the tools to win...he's proven that he isn't jsut a unorthodox brawler but he can box effectively. But he does have this edge to him that he thinks he's invincible! While I love that characteristic and it makes for great press and interviews in the ring that can be his shortcoming. If he boxes Arce and keep range allowing for full extention on his punches he can put Arce to sleep and win rounds. I just see him wanting to "PROVE" a point. Arce is egging Vic on in hopes that he will fight an inside fight. I just feel Vic is bitting on this bait. Which is why I think he'll fight the wrong fight and end up giving the edge to Arce. I HOPE VIC wins....I like his cockiness and attitude. The fight will be a good one for boxing that is for sure.
I won't call it an upset if Arce pummels Darchinyan for a TKO win in a spectacular bloody brawling match. Darchinyan, inspite of his remarkable comeback after that traumatic loss against Donaire, is still susceptible to big shots. And with Arce, Darchinyan will be in load of trouble anytime of any round.
You do realsie that Arce has been fighting for longer and has almost double the amout of fight's under his belt? Age in pro fighting is about how many hard fights you've had an how long you've been fighitng for. atsch Vic is a lot fresher and younger than Arce.
:good a lot of people don't realize this important tidbit. IE Bhop/RJJ being extremely more aged than Calz. Harder tougher fights knock years off your boxing lifetime. With that being said, I still take vic in this fight though.
